Job Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years old
- Ability to read, write, and speak English
- Maintains a valid Food Handler's Card
- Regular attendance and punctuality
- Available to work a variety of shifts including weekends and holidays
- Basic math skills
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Professional baking experience preferred
- Ability to work standing for extended periods
- Able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
- Ability to follow safety and health guidelines
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Job Qualifications

Job Duties
- Communicates effectively and often with the cafe team to disseminate relevant information and filter feedback and questions up to the Cafe Manager
- Leads new hire and ongoing training, provides additional expertise on pastry baking operations and sourcing and product information
- Sets pars, ordering and invoicing for commissary pastry, pastry ingredients, and baking supplies
- Meets cafe pastry cost goals
- Responsible for specials and new product roll out
- Helps troubleshoot and cover pastry shifts when possible
- Responsible for all equipment used in the baking area including maintenance, cleanliness, and training
- Ensures high quality food and maintains Grand Central Bakery standards by communicating regularly with the Commissary team
- Serves as a visible and reliable leader with a positive presence and motivates the team
- Makes delicious pastry efficiently by consistently mixing, forming, proofing and baking pastries
- Uses different communication methods daily to maintain clear and timely communication including product feedback and education to staff and customers
- Maintains workspace organization and manages inventory including stocking and ordering
- Sets and maintains standards to produce high quality pastries and holds pastry bakers accountable
- Communicates daily, seasonal and special product information, systems, techniques, and sourcing with the crew
- Knows and demonstrates best practices and skills in technologies such as Cheftec and Outlook
- Maintains a clean cafe environment by bussing, washing dishes, and performing cleaning tasks
- Shares product sourcing knowledge with customers and team members
- Understands the organizational structure for problem solving
- Takes initiative to improve the cafe environment and contributes ideas
- Uses creativity for product display to maximize sales
- Volunteers for duties and helps others
- Uses checklists and training documents to become proficient with cafe systems
- Acts in accordance with the mission, vision and values of Grand Central Bakery
