The role of Pastry Decorator at Cardenas Markets is an essential part of the bakery department responsible for preparing fresh baked goods daily. This position requires following established recipes, labeling, and properly storing baked items to maintain high quality and freshness. You will assist in baking various breads, cookies, desserts, and pastries, including pan dulce, as well as decorating cakes to meet customer requests. In addition to preparing and decorating baked goods, the employee will greet customers, take orders in person or by telephone, and provide friendly, service-oriented interactions. The physical demands include standing and walking throughout the shift and lifting weights up to 25 pounds regularly, sometimes up to 50 pounds. Job Duties

  • Greet and interact with customers to address questions or concerns in a friendly, service-oriented manner
  • Assist Pastry team with preparing desserts and pastries as needed
  • Take cake orders, ensure the department has fresh fruits and products, and maintain a fully stocked display case
  • Support team with baking various breads, cookies, and desserts, including pan dulce
  • Decorate cakes and pastries for customers
  • Use artistic skills to create beautiful decorated cakes and pastries and mix colors for icing
  • Effectively communicate with management and baking team in order to fulfill and address any issues or needs requested by guests and or other employees
