The Bakery Cook role at St. Regis is an essential position within the culinary operations, focusing on the preparation and baking of breads, pastries, and other baked goods. This role requires expertise in preparing doughs and fillings, proofing, baking, and decorating to meet the brand's exacting quality and presentation standards. The Bakery Cook reviews daily production sheets to determine the variety and quantity of baked items needed, ensuring that food preparation aligns precisely with recipes and food safety checklists. Responsibilities extend beyond baking to include maintaining kitchen logs, adhering to food safety policies, and communicating effectively with the Chef regarding inventory and usage of excess food for daily specials.

In addition to food preparation, the Bakery Cook collaborates closely with management by assisting in various HR functions such as hiring, training, scheduling, evaluating, coaching, disciplining, and motivating team members, serving as a role model and mentor within the department. The position demands adherence to company policies on safety, security, personal hygiene, and professional appearance, requiring the individual to handle responsibilities with discretion, maintain confidentiality, and protect company assets. Physical demands involve moving and handling objects up to 25 pounds, navigating various surfaces safely, and sustaining prolonged periods of standing or walking.

Preferred qualifications for this role include a technical, trade, or vocational school degree and a minimum of two years of related work experience, though supervisory experience is not required. Job Duties

  • Prepare breads and pastries including doughs and fillings
  • proof, bake, and decorate baked goods as appropriate
  • review daily production sheets to determine variety and quantity of baked items
  • prepare and cook food according to recipes and quality standards
  • maintain kitchen logs for food safety compliance
  • communicate excess food items to Chef for daily specials planning
  • safely use baking and measuring tools and equipment
  • ensure compliance with food safety handling and personal hygiene policies
  • check and report temperatures of kitchen appliances and food
  • monitor quality and portions throughout shifts
  • assist management with hiring, training, scheduling, evaluating, coaching, disciplining, and motivating employees
  • serve as a department role model or mentor

  • report accidents and unsafe conditions
  • maintain clean and professional uniform and appearance
