Founded in Chicago over 40 years ago as a delicatessen, Levy has grown into a leading name in the industry, dedicated to delivering exceptional culinary experiences. The company prides itself on its creativity, custom strategies, and impeccable service, making it a preferred employer for those passionate about great food and hospitality. Levy is part of Compass Group USA, a global leader in food services, which further supports its commitment to quality and innovation in the industry. Employees at Levy benefit from a diverse work environment that values inclusion and diversity of thought, fostering a collaborative and supportive culture. The organization offers competitive wages, with the Pastry Chef position at the John B. Hynes Veterans Memorial Convention Center offering a pay range from $26.45 to $37.79 per hour. The Pastry Chef position primarily involves the preparation and cooking of menu items in accordance with established recipes, focusing on both moist and dry cooking methods. This hourly role requires following precise scaling of production recipes and maintaining high standards of food quality and safety. The Pastry Chef will work in a variety of assigned kitchen stations, preparing fresh produce, proteins, and other pantry ingredients. Key responsibilities also include storing and handling raw and prepared foods safely, cleaning and sanitizing production equipment, and ensuring all food preparation procedures comply with local health department guidelines and Levy's standards. The role demands a strong commitment to providing exceptional service, acting with urgency to meet guest and event needs, and maintaining a safe, clean, and sanitary workstation. Employees in this position must employ good safety practices to prevent hazards such as slips, trips, falls, and burns and report any injuries or unsafe conditions promptly. Additionally, the Pastry Chef must adhere strictly to company policies, property rules, and responsible alcohol service policies.

Levy values team members who display positive attitudes, the ability to assist others when needed, and the capability to work independently. Physical stamina is essential as the job involves standing or walking throughout the shift, lifting and transporting food products and equipment, and using knife skills safely and efficiently. Excellent communication skills in English—reading, speaking, writing, and comprehension—are also required. Levy supports its associates with numerous benefits, including early wage access through Instapay, high-interest savings via the EVEN app, an associate shopping program, health and wellness initiatives, a discount marketplace, and an employee assistance program.
