As a renowned establishment in the hospitality sector, The Polo Club emphasizes professionalism, culinary excellence, and a welcoming atmosphere, making it one of the most sought-after venues for members who appreciate top-tier service and gourmet cuisine.
We are currently seeking a skilled Pastry Cook to join our culinary team for a PM shift, typically from 2:00 PM to 10:00 PM. This role is integral to maintaining the high standards expected at The Polo Club’s pastry shop and dessert stations. The Pastry Cook will be responsible for preparing and baking a wide variety of desserts in accordance with the detailed specifications set forth by the Pastry Chef or Pastry Sous Chef. Key responsibilities include measuring and mixing ingredients, shaping dough for cookies, pies, and specialty pastries, regulating oven temperatures, preparing fillings for pies, puddings, custards, and more, as well as decorating cakes and pastries with artfully blended icings and sugar ornaments.
This position requires an individual with a solid understanding of baking procedures and food preparation, along with basic knife skills and the ability to handle bakeshop machinery efficiently. In addition to technical skills, the Pastry Cook must be able to perform well under pressure in a fast-paced kitchen environment while maintaining professionalism and courteous communication with management, coworkers, members, and guests. The ability to follow verbal and written instructions in English is essential, as is standing for extended periods and multitasking during busy service hours.
The role does not involve supervisory responsibilities but does demand a high level of independence and teamwork, especially when working in the absence of supervisory pastry staff. This opportunity is ideal for culinary professionals with a pastry or culinary diploma and relevant experience in high-end country clubs, hotels, or restaurants who want to further their career in a prestigious and supportive environment.
