Job Description
Affiliated with STARR Restaurants and located in the prestigious New York EDITION hotel, The Clocktower restaurant offers a unique dining experience that blends modern cuisine with an authentic British sensibility. The restaurant is designed with three intimate dining rooms and a lively bar, making it a distinguished culinary destination for both locals and visitors. The menu focuses on celebrating and elevating classic British fare, emphasizing simple yet satisfying plates that feature subtle refinements. This dedication to quality extends to their award-winning wine program, which boasts a curated 250-bottle list that highlights both Old and New World producers, crafted to complement the dining experience perfectly.
The Clocktower is currently seeking a passionate and dedicated Pastry Cook to join their esteemed culinary team. This opportunity places the successful candidate alongside Executive Pastry Chef Jansen Chan, contributing directly to the innovative and consistent dessert program, as well as the bread and baked goods offerings. The role provides a hands-on environment where creativity meets precision, perfect for someone who thrives in quality-driven kitchens and is eager to refine their baking skills in a highly professional setting.
The role offers a comprehensive benefits package, including an hourly wage ranging from $18 to $21, acknowledging the value and skill level of the candidate. Medical, dental, and vision benefits are included, ensuring well-rounded healthcare coverage. Employees can enjoy paid vacation and sick time, supporting a healthy work-life balance. The Clocktower also offers commuter benefits, referral bonus programs, and dining discounts at over 25 affiliated STARR Restaurants, providing both convenience and rewarding incentives. The environment fosters career advancement and professional growth, making it an excellent choice for those looking to build a sustainable career in pastry and culinary arts.
This position requires a core availability for morning shifts, aligning with the production demands of a busy kitchen environment. Candidates must have previous pastry production experience in a from-scratch, quality-focused kitchen. Hands-on expertise with bread, laminated doughs, viennoiserie, or other baked goods is strongly preferred, allowing the Pastry Cook to contribute effectively to the diverse bakery offerings. The ideal candidate will be a team player committed to excellence, success, and self-motivation, combined with exceptional organizational and communication skills. Multitasking under pressure while maintaining the highest standards of quality is essential.
The Clocktower values diversity and inclusion, proudly operating as an equal-opportunity employer. All applicants are considered without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, veteran, or disability status. This welcoming and dynamic workplace encourages passionate culinary professionals to join a team dedicated to delivering exceptional British-inspired cuisine and baked goods in an iconic New York City setting.
