The role of Pastry Chef at The Village Dallas is a critical position within the culinary team, entrusted with the preparation and creation of a diverse selection of desserts, pastries, and other sweet delicacies. This position demands a high level of expertise in baking techniques and a creative approach to recipe development, ensuring that every dessert served meets the restaurant's impeccable standards for taste, presentation, and originality. The Pastry Chef is expected to be both a skilled craftsman and an innovator, continuously exploring new flavors and techniques to enrich the menu and captivate guests.

This full-time position requires an individual with proven experience in pastry arts, who possesses an acute attention to detail and a passion for the culinary craft. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership abilities to oversee kitchen operations related to pastry production, maintain rigorous hygiene and safety standards, and manage inventory control efficiently. Responsibilities include ensuring food preparation is cost-effective and aligns with budgeted labor costs, managing supply orders on a daily or weekly basis, and implementing policies that optimize ingredient usage while maintaining quality. Additionally, the Pastry Chef plays a key role in maintaining all kitchen equipment in pristine working condition, adhering to maintenance schedules, and complying with all relevant health, safety, and labor regulations.

Job Requirements

  • Proven experience as pastry chef, baker or relevant role
  • great attention to detail and creativity
  • organizing and leadership skills
  • willingness to replenish professional knowledge
  • in depth knowledge of sanitation principles, food preparation and baking techniques and nutrition
  • working knowledge of baking with ingredient limitations (pastries that are gluten free, sugarless etc.)
  • certificate in culinary arts, pastry-making, baking or relevant field

Job Duties

  • Ensures that food preparation is economical, technically correct and within budgeted labor cost goals
  • ensures that high standards of hygiene, cleanliness and safety are maintained throughout all kitchen areas at all times
  • controls inventory by reviewing and evaluating usage reports
  • analyzing variances
  • taking corrective actions
  • responsible for daily/weekly ordering of all food and supplies
  • ensure that all products are received in correct unit count and condition and deliveries are performed in accordance with the restaurant's receiving policies and procedures
  • implements measures to minimize food costs, exercises portion control for all items served and works with F&B team in establishing menu selling prices
  • prepare all required paperwork, including forms, reports and schedules in an organized and timely manner
  • ensure that all equipment is kept clean and kept in excellent working condition through personal inspection and by following the restaurant's preventative maintenance programs
  • fully understand and comply with all federal, state, county and municipal regulations that pertain to health, safety and labor requirements of the restaurant, employees and guests
