The role of Pastry Cook at Army Navy Country Club is a vital position within the Culinary Department, reporting directly to the Executive Chef, Executive Sous Chef, and Pastry Chef. This position is designed for individuals passionate about baking and dedicated to creating exceptional sweet products that enhance the overall dining experience. The Pastry Cook will be entrusted with preparing a wide variety of baked goods, including cakes, pastries, cookies, specialty desserts, and ice creams, following precise recipes and departmental standards. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Associate degree in Baking and Pastry Arts, or a related field, preferred
  • Post-secondary vocational training from a culinary institution is a plus
  • Two or more years of experience as a Pastry Cook, Baker, or in a similar role
  • Flexible availability, including weekends and evenings, as needed

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Associate degree in Baking and Pastry Arts, or a related field, preferred
  • Post-secondary vocational training from a culinary institution is a plus
  • Two or more years of experience as a Pastry Cook, Baker, or in a similar role
  • Demonstrate skills in baking pastries, desserts, sweets, and other pastry items
  • Ability to read and follow recipes and meet specified deadlines
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to safely and effectively operate pastry equipment

Job Duties

  • Prepare all menu items according to recipes and departmental standards
  • Prepare a wide variety of baked goods such as cakes, cookies, pies, and bread, following defined recipes
  • Decorating pastries with toppings to ensure presentation is tasteful and appealing to customers
  • Monitor inventory of baking ingredients such as flour, sugar, and spices, and notify the Chef when items need to be replenished
  • Taste products, review menus, estimate food needs, and maintain appropriate records
  • Create enticing confectionery decorations and pastry fillings
  • Prioritize and ensure kitchen cleanliness and sanitation
  • Duties and areas of responsibility may change daily or long-term at the discretion of the Chef to meet the needs of the team
