In the role of Pastry Chef, you will play an integral role in the creation, planning, and supervision of the daily production of a wide array of top-quality pastries, desserts, and baked goods. This position requires an experienced individual with prior pastry experience who can ensure that recipes and standards are followed precisely to maintain exceptional food quality, presentation, and portion control. As a Pastry Chef, you will be responsible for monitoring food costs and preparing appropriate quantities based on production demands. Maintaining the highest level of sanitation in the pastry kitchen and equipment is paramount, as is ensuring compliance with federal, state, and corporate food safety regulations.
This position also involves supervising a team of hourly kitchen and pastry associates. Your responsibilities will include interviewing new staff, scheduling work shifts, managing payroll, providing training and counseling, conducting performance reviews, and recommending disciplinary actions when necessary. Your leadership will be essential in helping to plan and implement seasonal menus that keep the offerings fresh and aligned with customer preferences. Additionally, you will oversee the ordering and maintaining of pastry supplies to ensure inventory levels are sufficient for smooth operations. Job Duties
- Supervises the daily production and distribution of all pastries, desserts and baked goods
- Ensures recipes and standards are followed, food costs are controlled and appropriate quantity is prepared based on established production needs
- Ensures proper food handling, presentation, portion control and maintenance of proper serving temperatures
- Monitors and controls the maintenance and sanitation of the pastry kitchen and equipment to ensure a work environment that meets or exceeds federal, state and corporate standards and regulations
- Supervises hourly kitchen/pastry associates, including interviewing, scheduling, payroll, training, counseling, participating in reviews and recommending disciplinary action, as appropriate
- Helps plan and implement seasonal menus
- Orders and maintains pastry supplies and products to ensure appropriate inventory levels
- Performs other duties as assigned
