Located at Blakeford Senior Life in Nashville, Tennessee, Morrison Living is currently seeking a full-time Pastry Chef to join their culinary team. This position is vital to the overall dining experience, responsible for creating and supervising the daily production of high-quality pastries, desserts, and baked goods. The Pastry Chef will work closely with other culinary staff to ensure that recipes and presentation standards are consistently met, food costs are controlled, and that all offerings not only delight the palate but also uphold the nutritional and dietary requirements suitable for a senior living environment.
This full-time role requires working five days per week with a schedule that may vary, including rotating weekends and holidays, providing flexibility yet consistent work hours. The compensation ranges from $22.00 to $25.00 per hour, reflecting the importance of the role within the Morrison Living culinary team. The Pastry Chef will play a key role in menu planning, supply ordering, inventory control, and ensuring that the production area complies with federal, state, and company health and safety standards. Supervisory responsibilities include overseeing pastry kitchen associates, conducting interviews, managing schedules, training staff, and providing performance reviews and disciplinary actions when necessary. Job Requirements
- Prior professional baking and pastry experience required
- Ability to work a full-time schedule including rotating weekends and holidays

Job Duties
- Supervises the daily production and distribution of all pastries, desserts and baked goods
- Ensures recipes and standards are followed, food costs are controlled and appropriate quantity is prepared based on established production needs
- Ensures proper food handling, presentation, portion control and maintenance of proper serving temperatures
- Monitors and controls the maintenance and sanitation of the pastry kitchen and equipment to ensure a work environment that meets or exceeds federal, state and corporate standards and regulations
- Supervises hourly kitchen/pastry associates, including interviewing, scheduling, payroll, training, counseling, participating in reviews and recommending disciplinary action, as appropriate
- Helps plan and implement seasonal menus
- Orders and maintains pastry supplies and products to ensure appropriate inventory levels
- Performs other duties as assigned
