We are currently seeking a skilled and experienced Pastry Chef to join our culinary team. This role is critical in ensuring that our pastry and baking offerings meet the highest standards of quality, freshness, and presentation. The Pastry Chef will be responsible for hiring, training, managing, and coaching the pastry and baking team, ensuring that all products are timely and meet the quantity needs of both banquets and restaurants. The successful candidate will work closely with the Executive Chef to maintain and improve our overall culinary operations, contributing to a dynamic and efficient kitchen environment.

The ideal candidate possesses strong baking and pastry education, excellent cost control abilities, and effective communication and organizational skills. Experience in staff management and training is essential, as is the ability to maintain guest contact and foster positive interdepartmental relationships within the hotel. Computer skills are also necessary to manage inventory, costs, and scheduling efficiently. Flexibility in work schedule is required, including availability during weekends and holidays, to meet the demands of our busy resort environment.

Job Requirements

  • Must be available to work a flexible schedule during the week including weekends and holidays
  • Ability to lead and manage a team effectively
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong knowledge of pastry and baking related tasks and techniques
  • Proficient in computer skills related to kitchen operations
  • Experience in guest contact and staff management
  • Willingness to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment

Job Qualifications

  • Baking and pastry education or equivalent experience
  • Proven experience in managing a pastry or baking team
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to train coaching and develop staff
  • Knowledge of cost control and inventory management
  • Experience working in a hotel or resort environment preferred
  • Computer literacy relevant to kitchen management

Job Duties

  • Hire train manage and coach the pastry and baking team
  • Provide a quality product that is timely fresh and meets quantity needs of banquets and restaurants
  • Work directly with the Executive Chef to maintain and improve culinary operations
  • Liaise with all departments within the hotel to ensure smooth operations
  • Utilize baking and pastry education to guide the team and processes
  • Control costs effectively while maintaining product quality
  • Manage guest contact and ensure excellent service
  • Employ computer skills for efficient scheduling inventory and communication
