The role of Pastry Chef is pivotal within our organization, tasked with overseeing the daily operations of the pastry department and mentoring staff in a wide range of baking techniques and skills. This role demands a balance of strong baking expertise and creative innovation, enabling the development of new product offerings that captivate our clientele. The Pastry Chef will monitor and uphold the quality and presentation of all pastry products, manage inventory and vendor relationships, and ensure the team operates in accordance with sanitation and safety standards. Leadership and organizational skills are essential as the Pastry Chef will also be responsible for scheduling production based on business demands and preparing essential reports, including payroll and scheduling. The position calls for a proactive individual adept at handling conflict resolution with both guests and staff, maintaining a harmonious and productive work environment. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • minimum 3 years experience in a professional pastry kitchen
  • strong baking and decorating skills
  • knowledge of FDA food safety regulations
  • ability to work early mornings, weekends and holidays
  • excellent physical stamina
  • strong organizational skills

Job Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a pastry chef or similar role
  • strong knowledge of baking techniques and pastry equipment
  • ability to innovate and design new pastry products
  • excellent leadership and communication skills
  • familiarity with sanitation and safety standards
  • ability to manage scheduling and payroll
  • problem-solving skills and conflict resolution experience

Job Duties

  • Monitor and maintain quality of all product and presentation
  • oversee all aspects of the daily operation of pastry production areas
  • receive, check and properly store all incoming product
  • know and comply with all sanitation standards
  • schedule pastry and bread production based on business needs and communicate to staff
  • prepare reports as needed including payroll and scheduling
  • review vendor pricing structures and adjust product as needed
  • operate, teach and supervise safe operation of all appliances and equipment
  • handle conflict resolution of guests and staff as needed
