As a Pastry Chef at Mazzone Hospitality, you will play a critical role in the preparation, production, and ordering for the pastry department. This role demands a balance of creativity, culinary expertise, and operational skills to ensure top-notch pastry offerings that adhere to safety and quality standards. Working under HACCP guidelines, the Pastry Chef is responsible for safe and sanitary food production and presentation, handling perishable products with care to maintain freshness and quality. Beyond baking, the role also involves menu development, inventory management, ordering, and sanitation protocols, ensuring the pastry department operates smoothly and efficiently. Additionally, the Pastry Chef will manage hourly associates, which includes responsibilities like hiring, counseling, coaching, and development to build a skilled, motivated team. Job Requirements
- Culinary degree preferred
- Minimum three years related experience in upscale, high volume restaurant and/or catering operations
- Ability to demonstrate creative and quality driven pastry skills
- Must have good food knowledge and recognition of quality product
- Strong knowledge of current food and catering trends with a focus on using seasonal ingredients, production, sanitation, food cost controls, menu development and presentation
- Excellent overall computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Knowledge of safe and sanitary food handling principles
- ServSafe of Department of Health certification a plus
