Job Description

The Michaels Companies Inc. is a leading arts and crafts retail chain in North America, operating over 1,300 stores across 49 states and Canada. Founded in 1973 and headquartered in Irving, Texas, Michaels is renowned for being the ultimate destination for all things creative. The company prides itself on fueling the joy of creativity and celebration, catering to a wide range of customers, from hobbyists to professional artists. Michaels also owns Artistree, a manufacturer of custom and specialty framing merchandise, further expanding its reach in the arts and crafts industry. The company offers a vibrant and inclusive workplace culture committed to innovation and collaboration, making it an excellent place for team members who share a passion for creativity and customer service.

The role at Michaels involves planning, coordinating, and facilitating events within the store, with a particular emphasis on children's birthday parties and craft classes. This position requires a dynamic individual who can engage with guests of all ages, ensuring a stress-free, fun, and engaging experience for everyone involved. Responsibilities include instructing participants in craft projects, performing face painting, and managing party add-ons such as goody bags and balloons. The event coordinator must communicate effectively with clients and store teams, handle administrative tasks like answering emails and making phone calls, and adjust plans based on client feedback.

Additionally, the role involves significant customer service duties, including helping customers shop, locating products, and ensuring a fast and friendly checkout experience. The position supports various store operations such as truck unload, merchandise stocking, planogram execution, and maintaining store recovery standards. Team members are cross-trained in custom framing selling and production and participate in daily store cleanliness to uphold company standards. This is a physically active role requiring standing for long periods, bending, lifting, and working in a retail environment that includes climate-controlled public areas and some outdoor tasks.

Michaels provides a variety of benefits, including medical, dental, and vision coverage, a 401(k) plan with employer match, employee assistance programs, tuition and adoption assistance, and employee discounts. The company is an equal opportunity employer committed to full inclusion and provides reasonable accommodations for candidates and employees with disabilities.
