Job Description

Michaels is a leading retailer in the arts and crafts sector, operating over 1,300 stores across 49 states in the United States and Canada, alongside a robust online presence at Michaels.com and Michaels.ca. Established in 1973 and headquartered in Irving, Texas, Michaels has become the premier destination for creative enthusiasts and crafters by offering a dynamic range of products and services designed to inspire creativity and celebrate artistic expression. In addition to its retail operations, The Michaels Companies, Inc. also owns Artistree, a manufacturer specializing in custom and specialty framing merchandise, further expanding their comprehensive offerings within the crafting community.

As a company dedicated to fueling the joy of creativity and celebration, Michaels prides itself on creating an engaging, customer-focused retail environment. The company values inclusion, diversity, and a supportive workplace culture, ensuring every team member is empowered to bring their best selves to work. Michaels also emphasizes equal employment opportunities and reasonable accommodations, affirming its commitment to the full inclusion of all qualified individuals.

The role being offered at the N. ORL-Magnolia, LA store revolves around event coordination and customer service within a retail craft store setting. This full-time position is vital for delivering an exceptional, stress-free, and fun experience to guests by managing and facilitating diverse events, including children’s birthday parties and craft classes. The role involves demonstrating craft projects, conducting face painting and other interactive activities, and handling party add-ons like goody bags and balloons in alignment with company standards.

Beyond event management, the position requires delivering excellent customer service by assisting shoppers with product selection, providing quick and friendly checkout experiences, and educating customers on promotional programs such as the Rewards program and Private Label Credit Cards. Event Coordinators are also involved in various operational tasks, including truck unloading, merchandise stocking, maintaining store cleanliness, and ensuring all store recovery standards are met to support the overall brand promise.

This position demands a high level of organizational skills, creativity, and strong interpersonal communication, as well as the ability to adapt plans based on client feedback and manage administrative tasks such as email correspondence and phone communications. The role requires physical stamina given the need for standing long periods, lifting, bending, and moving around the store, including the use of ladders to access high shelves safely.

Michaels offers a supportive work environment with benefits like 401(k) with employer match, medical, dental, vision insurance, employee assistance programs, tuition assistance, and employee discounts, all designed to support the wellbeing and professional growth of its team members.
