The role of a server at Summer on Music Lane is a critical position responsible for ensuring that every guest's experience exceeds expectations. This job involves a diverse array of tasks including taking orders, serving food and beverages, answering menu-related questions, and providing personalized recommendations. The successful candidate will possess strong communication skills and the ability to resolve conflicts calmly and professionally. Job Requirements

  • high school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • six (6) months related experience in hospitality or service industry
  • must be able to speak, read, write, and understand the primary language(s) of the workplace
  • ability to write routine reports and correspondence
  • ability to speak effectively before groups of co-workers and sister property staff
  • ability to understand other computer programs (i.e. Property Management System and Point of Sale)
  • ability to apply concepts of math including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • adhere to all standards of operations, policies and procedures, manuals, training material, memos, and verbal instruction
  • escort customers to their tables
  • present menus to patrons and answer questions about menu items, making recommendations upon request
  • describe and recommend wines to customers
  • check patrons' identification to ensure that they meet minimum age requirements for consumption of alcoholic beverages
  • explain how various menu items are prepared, describing ingredients and cooking methods
  • serve food or beverages to patrons, and prepare or serve specialty dishes at tables as required
  • inform customers of daily specials
  • write patrons' food orders on order slips, memorize orders, or enter orders into computers for transmittal to kitchen staff
