Founded in 1973 and headquartered in Irving, Texas, Michaels has grown to become the best place for all things creative, offering an extensive range of arts and craft supplies, framing services, and seasonal products. Michaels also owns Artistree, a manufacturer of custom and specialty framing merchandise, further enhancing its commitment to creativity. The company prides itself on fueling the joy of creativity by providing customers with quality products and engaging experiences, making it a favored destination for hobbyists, artists, and families.
The role available is that of an Event Coordinator at a Michaels store located in Palm Beach-Palm Beach Gardens, FL. This position involves planning, coordinating, and facilitating events within the store, including children's birthday parties and various craft classes or special events. The goal of this role is to offer a stress-free, fun, and engaging experience for customers of all ages, creating an environment where creativity flourishes. The Event Coordinator will be responsible for not only managing event logistics and materials but also actively engaging participants by demonstrating craft techniques and providing assistance during activities such as face painting and crafting. Excellent customer service is essential as the coordinator helps guests shop and ensures they enjoy a smooth and friendly checkout experience.
Administratively, the coordinator will manage client communications via emails and phone calls, schedule events, and adapt plans based on feedback to ensure client satisfaction. They are also responsible for maintaining the venue’s cleanliness and safety standards before, during, and after each event. As part of the broader store team, the coordinator will assist with store operations including unloading trucks, restocking merchandise, maintaining planograms, optimizing inventory (Store In Stock Optimization), and supporting shrink and safety programs. Cross-training opportunities exist, including involvement in Custom Framing selling and production, showcasing a dynamic work environment.
The ideal candidate brings an energetic and enthusiastic personality, excellent people skills, and previous experience working with children and organizing children’s events. Communication skills—both verbal and written—are crucial for interacting effectively with a diverse clientele and team members. Organizational and creative problem-solving abilities are also essential.
Physically, the role requires standing for extended periods, moving around the store, bending, lifting, carrying, and sometimes using ladders to access high shelves. The work environment is primarily a public retail store with climate-controlled areas, with occasional outdoor duties such as retrieving shopping carts or unloading trucks. The position often requires working nights, weekends, and early mornings.
Michaels offers a comprehensive benefits package, including 401(k) plans with employer match, medical, dental, and vision coverage, telemedicine services, flexible spending accounts, commuter benefits, tuition and adoption assistance, and various voluntary insurance options. Team members also enjoy perks such as employee discounts and access to partner discount programs. Michaels is committed to diversity and inclusion, providing reasonable accommodations to qualified individuals to ensure full participation in the workplace.
