Job Description

Michaels is the leading destination for all things creative and the premier retail chain specializing in arts and crafts materials across North America. Established in 1973 and headquartered in Irving, Texas, Michaels operates over 1,300 stores in 49 states and Canada, as well as an extensive online presence through Michaels.com and Michaels.ca. The company is also the owner of Artistree, a manufacturer of custom and specialty framing merchandise, further expanding its range of creative products and services. Michaels prides itself on fueling the joy of creativity and celebration, providing customers with a comprehensive assortment of products to inspire artistic expression and meaningful celebrations for every occasion.

Working at Michaels means becoming part of a company dedicated to creativity and customer satisfaction. At the heart of Michaels' operation is its commitment to an inclusive and supportive work environment, offering a variety of benefits for team members in both full-time and part-time roles. Employees benefit from health insurance options including medical, dental, and vision plans, paid time off, tuition assistance for continuing education, and generous employee discounts. The company also emphasizes equal opportunity employment and reasonable accommodations to ensure all qualified individuals can thrive in their roles.

The role of Event Coordinator and Customer Service Associate at Michaels in North Wales, Pennsylvania, is a dynamic, customer-facing position that blends event planning and retail responsibilities. This role is centered on planning, coordinating, and facilitating engaging events such as children’s birthday parties and various craft classes within the store. The Event Coordinator is tasked with creating a fun, stress-free, and memorable experience for guests ranging in age from young children to seniors, ensuring all attendees are engaged with creative activities, face painting, and party enhancements like goody bags and balloons.

Beyond event coordination, this position plays a crucial role in delivering excellent customer service by assisting shoppers in finding products and offering friendly, efficient checkout experiences. It requires dedication to maintaining store presentation and operational excellence, including receiving and stocking merchandise, performing merchandising tasks, and supporting company programs for safety and inventory management. The Event Coordinator is also cross-trained in custom framing sales and production, highlighting the versatile nature of the position.

The job involves extensive interaction with customers and team members in a public retail environment that demands physical activity such as standing for long periods, lifting, carrying, and reaching. Employees must be capable of managing the physical requirements and the varied work environment, which includes climate-controlled public areas and some non-climate-controlled stock rooms. Work hours may include evenings, weekends, and early mornings, reflecting the retail nature of the position.

Michaels values energetic and enthusiastic individuals with excellent communication and interpersonal skills, those who can effectively manage stress and interact positively with diverse groups. This role requires creativity, organizational abilities, and a welcoming attitude to foster an environment where customers feel supported and inspired. If you enjoy helping people and have experience working with children or retail, this position offers a rewarding opportunity to grow within a supportive and creative company.
