The Bunkhouse is a unique and intimate venue located in the old equipment room beneath the Hotel Magdalena on Music Lane in Austin, Texas. This private basement hideaway boasts one of Austin's most special record collections, played on custom vintage hi-fi equipment. It blends Japanese Jazz Kissa culture with a Texas twist to create a truly distinct experience that feels both new and familiar. The role of Host or Hostess at the Bunkhouse is critical to maintaining the high standards of guest service and atmosphere the venue is known for. The successful candidate will be the first point of contact for guests, greeting them warmly and seating them appropriately to enhance their dining or lounge experience. This position requires excellent communication skills and the ability to handle guest concerns promptly and effectively, ensuring guest satisfaction and maintaining the venue's excellent reputation. The Host or Hostess must have a thorough understanding of Bunkhouse policies and actively contribute to upholding the company’s culture, values, and public image. This role also involves coordinating with kitchen, serving staff, and management to ensure seamless service and customer satisfaction.

Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Six months related experience in hospitality or service industry
- Proficiency in speaking, reading, writing, and understanding the primary language(s) of the workplace
- Ability to understand and use computer programs such as property management systems
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED). college degree preferred
- Six (6) months related experience in hospitality or service industry
- Must be able to speak, read, write and understand the primary language(s) of the workplace
- Ability to understand other computer programs (i.e. Property Management System)
Job Duties
- Ensure immediate response is given to any and all guest comments and concerns, inform immediate supervisor of concerns and assist implementing corrective measure when necessary
- Provide guests with menus
- Greet guests and seat them at tables or in waiting areas
- Assign patrons to tables suitable for their needs
- Inspect dining and serving areas to ensure cleanliness and proper setup
- Speak with patrons to ensure satisfaction with food and service, and to respond to complaints
- Receive and record patrons' dining reservations using Resy
- Maintain contact with kitchen staff, management, serving staff, and customers to ensure that dining details are handled properly and customers' concerns are addressed
- Inform patrons of establishment specialties and features
- Direct patrons to waiting areas such as lounges
- Operate cash registers to accept payments for food and beverages if applicable
- Prepare cash receipts after establishments close
- Supervise and coordinate activities of dining room staff to ensure that patrons receive prompt and courteous service
- Help hire and train other hosts and hostesses
- Assist in planning functions or other special events and services
