The current job opening pertains to a key role within the school food service team. The position is a daily, part-time role from Monday to Friday, focused on providing nutritionally adequate, attractive, and high-quality food service in a customer-oriented atmosphere while adhering to strict standards of sanitation and food safety. This role is crucial in supporting the overall student experience by ensuring that all meals served meet USDA guidelines, HACCP standards, and maintain an appealing presentation. This position requires a high school diploma or equivalent, along with at least six months of related experience, making it accessible for candidates looking to contribute to a positive school environment through food service. Preferred certifications such as ServSafe further enhance the candidate's qualifications, emphasizing food safety mastery. Essential duties include recipe adjustments, menu preparation, cooking mastery with varied techniques, equipment care, sanitation, cashier operations, and reporting. Job Duties

  • Increases or decreases recipe yield and implements adjustments upon manager’s approval
  • reviews weekly menu and adjusts recipes to appropriate yield
  • pulls food from freezer to thaw
  • completes panning and prep work
  • demonstrates mastery of cooking techniques such as impingement, steaming, roasting, and rethermalization of leftovers
  • notifies manager of anticipated ingredient or product need for timely ordering
  • implements food service policies and regulations
  • understands and correctly implements USDA Offer vs. Serve Policy
  • learns and follows good safety and sanitary procedures
  • adheres to HACCP standards regarding proper food safety temperatures
  • practices safe use and care of equipment and selects appropriate equipment for efficient completion of work task
  • demonstrates mastery of kitchen weights and measures
  • keeps kitchen and facility clean and orderly through daily sanitizing, washing, sweeping, and mopping
  • ensures daily cleanliness of equipment and assigned area(s)
  • completes job assignments within allotted time and at assigned speed level
  • uses approved standardized recipes to prepare quality food in assigned quantities
  • helps merchandise food in an appealing manner
  • avoids waste in food preparation
  • reports accurately food usage for production plans including quantities prepared, served, and leftover
  • stores leftovers properly and safely
  • performs cashier functions accurately while maintaining customer account balances
  • accounts for USDA reimbursable meals
  • follows oral and written job-related work schedule
  • completes job duties and follows manager’s instructions
  • shows initiative to improve service
  • cooperates and works effectively with other employees
