Job Description
Our establishment is a dedicated senior living community that values creating a safe, clean, and nurturing environment for its residents. We are committed to maintaining the highest standards in food safety and kitchen hygiene to ensure the well-being and comfort of those we serve. As a part-time dishwasher joining our culinary team, you will play an essential role in supporting our kitchen operations by maintaining cleanliness and sanitation, which is critical to the health and safety of our residents.
This part-time dishwasher role involves a variety of responsibilities that contribute to the smooth running of our kitchen and dining services. You will be responsible for cleaning and sanitizing dishes, utensils, and kitchen areas following the department’s established policies and procedures. You will ensure our industrial dishwashers operate at the correct temperatures according to state and federal regulations, helping us meet rigorous health and safety standards. Additionally, your role will include assisting cooks with meal preparation when requested, replenishing stock, and maintaining order and cleanliness in the storerooms and kitchen.
In this position, you will be an integral part of our team, supporting servers by responding to residents' requests in a positive and customer-friendly manner. Your professional appearance and demeanor will help foster a warm and respectful environment for our residents, families, vendors, and guests. By maintaining confidentiality of residents' personal information, you will help protect their privacy and uphold their rights within the community.
The work environment is fast-paced and demanding, requiring you to manage your workload effectively while adapting to shifting priorities and emergencies. The kitchen setting includes exposure to heat, steam, and cold temperatures, requiring physical stamina and the ability to lift and carry items frequently up to 20 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds. You will need the physical ability to reach, bend, stand for extended periods, and transport items such as trays, plates, and silverware between the kitchen and dining areas.
In alignment with our mission, we seek individuals who possess a compassionate, servant-hearted attitude toward serving elderly residents. This role not only depends on your practical kitchen skills but also on your interpersonal skills and the genuine care you demonstrate in every interaction. Your involvement extends beyond kitchen tasks, contributing to a positive customer service environment characterized by honesty, integrity, and respect.
We require that applicants have the education necessary to comprehend simple procedures and follow directions carefully. Your knowledge of safety procedures, including understanding Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) for hazardous materials, is essential for maintaining a safe workplace. We encourage applicants to apply on an ongoing basis until the position is filled, promising a supportive and respectful work atmosphere where you can contribute meaningfully to enhancing the residents’ dining experience and overall quality of life.
