The role available is centered on ensuring cleanliness and organization in a busy kitchen setting. This position is critical in supporting the smooth operation of the kitchen by managing all washing and storage of utensils, dishes, pots, and pans with high efficiency. The individual will be responsible for transporting produce from refrigerated areas to the kitchen and assisting in basic food preparation tasks such as salad making and slicing meat. This multifaceted role requires someone who can work effectively under time pressure in a fast-paced atmosphere while maintaining high standards of food handling, safety, hygiene, and sanitation.
This job offers a flexible but demanding work schedule including Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, usually covering eight to nine-hour shifts. The working environment is unique as it is set in a renovated historic home kitchen, which requires adaptability to limited space and exposure to heat and noise typical of commercial kitchens. Safety and hygiene are strictly enforced with the use of uniforms, hair nets, protective eyewear, gloves, and non-skid shoes.
Compensation for this role ranges from $2.00 to $20.00 per hour and will vary depending on the candidate's knowledge, skills, experience, and location. Job Duties
- Transport produce from walk-in refrigerated areas to kitchen
- rinse dishes using spray hose and load into dishwasher
- operate dishwasher cycles and remove clean items
- store clean pots, pans, and dishes appropriately
- prepare salad ingredients by washing, slicing, and storing
- take out garbage to designated areas
- clean work areas thoroughly before leaving
- assist with cooking, baking, and other food preparation as needed
