The role offered at Banner North Colorado Medical Center is a part-time Cook position within the Culinary Services team, focused on night shift duties requiring 20 hours per week. This position is crucial in ensuring that patients, staff, and visitors receive freshly prepared, nutritious meals that meet hospital standards. The schedule consists of two 10-hour night shifts every week, specifically Sundays and Mondays from 10 pm to 8 am. In recognition of the demanding nature of this schedule, employees receive a flat weekend shift differential of $1.50 per hour and an additional $5.00 per hour during weekends when applicable. The cook may be assigned to work in the retail cafe grill area and assist with breakfast item preparation, emphasizing versatile culinary skills and adaptability in a fast-paced environment. Job Requirements

  • Must have one or more years of experience in institutional food production or cooking

  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • For Banner Staffing Services team members, the food handler’s card is required within 30 days of hire

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • Prepares and cooks hot and cold food items using standardized recipes and calculates production quantities based on production forecast, tally sheets and catering orders
  • May be assigned to work in the retail cafe grill area, and/or cook breakfast items
  • Records over production and run outs, writes directions and calculates production quantities
  • Checks and logs food and equipment temperatures and reports any problems to the supervisor
  • Maintains par levels of food and supplies in assigned areas, orders and/or restocks items in accordance with established routines, rotates food stocks, checks freshness dates
  • Keeps assigned work areas clean and in an orderly manner
  • Assists other kitchen and dietary staff as needed and assigned, May oversee the scheduled shift for efficiency
