Job Requirements

  • Available for 9:30 am to 1:30 pm shift daily with ability to extend hours as needed
  • ServSafe certification desired and allergen training required within one month of hire
  • current physical exam
  • proof of two MMRs and current TB test
  • basic knowledge of food preparation and nutrition
  • functionally literate and able to do simple arithmetic
  • able to relate to adults and children
  • able to respond immediately to any emergency situation
  • physical ability to hear conversational voice with or without hearing aid
  • ability to see and read newsprint with or without corrective lenses
  • able to speak and be understood under normal circumstances
  • able to lift and carry children and items up to 50 pounds
  • use of arms, hands, legs, and feet with or without corrective devices to accomplish job tasks including evacuation
  • reliable transportation for shopping groceries and kitchen items

Job Duties

  • Clean up of morning breakfast and snack dishes
  • return unused snack to proper storage
  • take a head count for lunch
  • prepare meals according to a menu in an appetizing and appealing fashion
  • set up lunch trays with dishes and utensils needed for each classroom
  • serve lunch at designated times to various classrooms providing serving utensils and enough food to prevent return trips
  • collect trays from classrooms after eating
  • wash, rinse, and sanitize dishes, utensils, cups, and all items used in food preparation, air dry and put away prior to end of day
  • store leftovers in covered, labeled containers in refrigerator or freezer, marking leftovers with the date
  • maintain cleanliness of ovens, stovetops, dishwasher, refrigerators, cabinets, storage areas, and floors according to Health Department requirements
  • sweep floors of debris, spray and wipe all countertops and stovetops with appropriate cleaning solutions
