As a Program Manager at Right At School, you will play a vital role in upholding the company’s mission and vision. This position involves managing daily operations of the extended day programs, ensuring safety, compliance, and the successful implementation of educational activities. The role demands leadership skills to effectively coach and motivate staff, maintain program standards, and engage collaboratively with families, school partners, and team members. This is a hands-on role that requires attention to detail, strong communication skills, and a commitment to fostering a joyful and safe environment conducive to children's growth. Program Managers operate Monday through Friday, from 7:00 AM to 8:30 AM and 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM, with a pay rate range of $20.00 to $24.00 per hour based on experience and education.

Key responsibilities include enforcing safety and joy standards, ensuring all program documentation and licensing requirements are current and properly maintained, conducting continual coaching and fostering respectful relationships to achieve high staff productivity, and supporting all safety protocols diligently. Effective communication with families and stakeholders is critical, as is maintaining transparent and efficient documentation processes for attendance and compliance. The daily routine also involves facilitating before and after school activities, fitness fun, and curriculum delivery that enhances children’s developmental experiences. Ideal candidates are those who demonstrate multitasking ability, professionalism, and a strong understanding of children’s unique needs, including special needs, supported by relevant training or coursework in child development.

This role requires adherence to state-specific requirements, especially New Jersey state guidelines, including certifications in First Aid, CPR, and tuberculosis clearance. Applicants must meet specific qualifications and training criteria depending on their educational background and experience, such as child care training hours, program management training, and recognized certifications. Job Requirements

  • Ability to meet New Jersey state-specific requirements
  • First Aid and CPR-in-person certification
  • Cleared tuberculosis test
  • High school diploma or General Education Development (GED) diploma
  • Completion of 6 hours training in child care and 3 hours in child program management OR certificate as Recreation Technician from NRPA AND 6 hours training in child care AND 3 hours in child program management AND 2 years experience OR Child Development Associate (CDA) certificate, Group Teacher Approval, or 15 college credits in related fields AND 6 hours training in child care AND 3 hours in child program management AND 2 years experience OR 15 college credits in unrelated areas AND 6 hours in child care AND 3 hours in child program management AND 3 years experience OR Associate's Degree in any field AND 6 hours in child care AND 3 hours in child program management AND 2 years experience OR Bachelor's Degree in a child-related field or Office of Licensing Head Teacher Approval AND 3 hours training in child program management AND 1 year experience OR certificate as Recreation Administrator, Recreation Supervisor or Recreation Professional AND 3 hours child program management training AND 1 year experience OR Bachelor's Degree in an unrelated field AND 6 hours training in child care AND 3 hours training in child program management AND 1 year experience OR School Age Program Supervisor endorsement from the New Jersey Registry for Childhood Professionals
  • Completion of required training within 9 months of approval as Program Supervisor by the OOL

Job Qualifications

  • Experience with working amongst competing priorities and delivering quality service to all stakeholders
  • High school diploma or GED completed
  • Experience working with children and knowledge of unique and special needs
  • Coursework or training in child development and/or related field
  • Communication skills
  • oral, written, and visual with adults and children
  • Ability to model professional standards when dealing with students, parents, staff, and community
  • Familiarity with Google technology software or willingness to learn

Job Duties

  • Exhibit role model qualities ensuring safety and joy standards are met by supporting a clear understanding of roles and responsibilities to a team of staff members
  • Support operational efficiency by keeping site documents and licensing standards up to date
  • Outline attendance protocols, behavior policies, safety procedures, and ensure program tasks are completed effectively
  • Continually coach staff, fostering respectful relationships to address challenges promptly and maintain productivity
  • Support and report on safety protocols to ensure the well-being of all participants
  • Engage meaningfully with families, client partners, peers, and children to support effective communication and relationship building
  • Maintain accurate records for student check-ins and check-outs and ensure attendance procedures are completed per policy
  • Implement daily activities, fitness fun, and curriculum while providing a safe and engaging environment
