Job Description

The Public Building Authority (PBA) is a joint public, non-profit organization created collaboratively by Knox County and the City of Knoxville. It is dedicated to developing, constructing, managing, and maintaining a broad spectrum of public facilities and services on behalf of these local government entities. PBA's mission focuses on delivering cost-effective and professional facility services that support local government operations while enhancing public spaces for the residents and visitors of Knoxville. This important organization oversees major construction projects and provides long-term property and grounds management for millions of square feet of buildings, including a variety of city and county facilities, parks, and parking garages. Moreover, PBA manages security, telecommunications infrastructure, and on-street parking operations throughout the community, making it an essential backbone of municipal infrastructure and services in the region.

Governed by an 11-member board appointed by county and city leaders, the PBA operates with a commitment to quality, efficiency, and community enhancement. The organization's role not only includes the physical maintenance and management of public properties but also providing high-level customer service and operational support in various facility-related services. This dedication to public service is reflected in its comprehensive approach to facility management and its continuous efforts to improve services that directly affect the daily lives of Knox County and Knoxville residents.

Due to ongoing growth and increased demand for parking and facility support services, PBA is currently seeking experienced Parking Booth Attendants to join its Parking team. This position involves performing a range of facility and garage support functions, such as cashiering, customer service, bank deposit preparation, cleaning, and maintenance tasks. This role is ideal for retirees or students looking for flexible work hours where they can earn an income while balancing their other commitments. The position supports a customer-focused environment, requiring attendants to assist users of automated revenue control equipment, including ticket dispensers, pay stations, and exit station machinery. The Parking Booth Attendant is also responsible for preparing daily sales reports, handling cashier bank deposits, collecting and categorizing parking ticket transactions, and maintaining revenue equipment inventories.

The position offers flexible shift schedules to accommodate different availability requirements and provides a supportive entry-level opportunity where training will be fully provided. Working at PBA offers not only a meaningful role contributing to the community's infrastructure but also a stable environment with full-time benefits, making it an attractive employment opportunity within a vital public organization. Those who join the team benefit from working within a reputable organization dedicated to public service and community enhancement, while gaining valuable skills in a dynamic and supportive work environment.
