Job Description

Barnes-Jewish Hospital at Washington University Medical Center is the largest hospital in Missouri and is continuously recognized as one of the nation’s top hospitals by U.S. News & World Report. This prestigious hospital combines full-time academic faculty and community physicians from Washington University School of Medicine with a devoted staff of residents, interns, fellows, and other healthcare professionals dedicated to providing outstanding patient care. Barnes-Jewish Hospital prides itself on being a leader in nursing excellence, having achieved the distinction of being the first adult hospital in Missouri to be certified as a Magnet Hospital by the American Nurses Credentialing Center. This accolade highlights the hospital's commitment to superior nursing practices and quality care delivery to its patients.

The Parking Attendant role at Barnes-Jewish Hospital is a vital position within the hospital's parking and valet services department. This department ensures that parking and specific transportation services within the medical center remain safe, friendly, and convenient for all user groups including patients, visitors, employees, physicians, and volunteers. The role offers a rewarding opportunity for individuals looking to contribute to the hospital’s mission by assisting with parking operations and directly engaging with hospital guests through valet services. The position features daily pay availability, a convenient work schedule from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, no weekend work, and only requires working one major holiday per year. This schedule supports a healthy work-life balance for the employee.

As a Parking Attendant, your responsibilities include driving, parking, and returning vehicles according to established procedures, ensuring the safety and satisfaction of all guests. You will also collaborate with security to notify them of any unauthorized vehicles, accidents, or suspicious activity within the parking lots and garages. Assisting motorists with parking directions and managing traffic in partnership with security personnel is another important aspect of the role. Additionally, you will provide prompt assistance to customers experiencing equipment issues by troubleshooting on-site or escalating problems to supervisors if necessary. There may also be opportunities to take on additional duties similar to those performed by more senior Parking Attendants as needed.

Barnes-Jewish Hospital provides comprehensive benefits and resources designed to support employee well-being physically, emotionally, socially, and financially. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, life insurance, and legal services starting the first day of the month following hire. The hospital offers disability insurance, a 4% automatic retirement contribution, a 401(k) plan with employer matching, tuition assistance from the first day of employment, and access to ongoing learning and development programs. Additional benefits include flexible spending accounts for health and dependent care, a generous paid time off program that combines vacation, sick days, holidays, and personal time, as well as adoption assistance. Joining this team means you become part of a well-respected institution that delivers exceptional service and care in a supportive work environment.
