The Seasonal Valet Parker role at the Boston Harbor Hotel is a pivotal position within the Guest Services department, reporting directly to the Director of Front Office Operations. This non-exempt seasonal role, typically active from May through September, is tailored for hospitality professionals passionate about guest service and driven to exceed expectations at every touchpoint. The valet parker is responsible for offering Beyond Compare service, ensuring that every guest and outlet patron receives courteous, efficient, and safe valet parking assistance. This role requires thorough knowledge of the guest experience and the ability to assist self-parking patrons with clear, accurate directions. Responsibilities extend beyond parking vehicles to include engagement with guests through greeting and assisting, overseeing the lobby entrance vestibule's cleanliness, and supporting door and bell staff as necessary. Drivers must ensure safe handling of vehicles, adherence to traffic laws, and maintain a safe, clean work environment. The successful candidate will embody a service-oriented mindset that aligns with the hotel’s prestige and uphold the hotel’s standards of professionalism and customer care. Job Requirements

  • Valid state driver’s license with a current address
  • acceptable driving record
  • ability to drive a vehicle with a manual transmission preferred
  • at least one year of combined guest services and valet experience
  • ability to communicate effectively in English
  • familiarity with the local area
  • availability for seasonal work from May through September

Job Qualifications

  • Demonstrated ability to work cohesively with a team
  • must be self-directed, motivated and demonstrate exceptional customer service and interpersonal skills
  • ability to communicate effectively in the English language, both verbally and in writing
  • second language is desirable
  • must be familiar with the local area
  • valid state driver’s license with a current address
  • acceptable driving record
  • at least one year of previous guest services experience

Job Duties

  • Inspect each vehicle before taking possession and mark tickets of findings
  • inform customers of valet rate
  • report any known accidents, observed or suspected violations of company policy, safety hazards or any unusual occurrence to the manager
  • have a thorough knowledge of the major streets, landmarks and freeways in the area of the hotel to be able to provide guest and patrons directions to various locations in the area, if needed
  • observe all traffic laws and safe driving practices
  • ensure prompt professional response to all guest requests for service
  • assist and relieve door staff and bell staff as requested and directed
  • open the door for all guests and patrons entering and exiting the hotel
  • maintain the lobby entrance vestibule including cleaning, vacuuming, etc. as needed
  • acknowledge any approaching guest warmly and assist however needed
  • perform in a standard as well as an automatic automobile
  • maintain a safe, clean and orderly work area
  • complete all other assignments, duties and tasks as assigned by the concierge and director of guest services
