Job Requirements

  • High school or general education diploma
  • Experience and/or demonstrated aptitude for successful performance in human services
  • Ability to work effectively with everyone in a nondiscriminatory manner
  • Willingness to work in an alcohol and drug free environment and submit to tests as requested
  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds
  • Must possess a valid California Driver's License
  • Must have working knowledge of food preparation, cleaning, and food safety regulations
  • Food handler's certification required within 30 days of employment

Job Qualifications

  • High School or General Education Diploma
  • Experience and/or demonstrated aptitude for human services
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both written and oral forms
  • Basic computer skills including use of Word and Excel
  • Experience working with individuals experiencing homelessness or those in need
  • Compassionate with ability to enforce program policies and rules
  • Valid California Driver's License
  • Food handler certification or willingness to obtain within 30 days
  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds
  • Knowledge of basic case management principles

Job Duties

  • Supervise kitchen and pantry operations and ensure cleanliness at all times
  • Responsible for all GIK donation pick-ups from local donors
  • Plan and coordinate weekly menu for community meals, corps activities, and special events
  • Organize kitchen supplies, maintenance, and inventory in kitchen, pantry and surrounding areas
  • Oversee kitchen and dining hall for seasonal activities including Thanksgiving and Christmas
  • Provide oversight of the food pantry program in accordance with USDA, Food Bank, and Salvation Army guidelines
  • Supervise kitchen and social service food service volunteers and coordinate coverage
  • Maintain food handler's certification and ensure compliance with food safety regulations
  • Keep statistics of meals and communicate data weekly and monthly
  • Assist with general social services, community events, and outreach activities as needed
  • Perform multiple tasks as assigned
  • Operate a vehicle for food pick-ups as required
  • Ensure food preparation, cleaning, and safety procedures are followed
