Job Description
Wyckoff Heights Medical Center is a comprehensive healthcare provider focused on community health and wellness. Situated in Brooklyn, New York, Wyckoff is renowned for its commitment to delivering high-quality medical services and promoting public health initiatives. As a critical institution in the community, Wyckoff addresses health disparities and provides accessible care to diverse populations, including vulnerable and underserved groups. The Medical Center operates a variety of specialized programs, including HIV prevention and treatment services, demonstrating its dedication to combating public health challenges with compassion and expertise.
The role of Outreach Coordinator at Wyckoff Heights Medical Center is pivotal in advancing the organization's mission to increase awareness and engagement in HIV prevention and treatment programs. This full-time, non-union position offers a salary of $55,000 annually and operates during regular business hours Monday through Friday, from 9 AM to 5 PM. The Outreach Coordinator is responsible for leading outreach strategies, overseeing outreach activities, and evaluating the outcomes of all efforts aimed at connecting priority populations with critical health services. This includes coordinating both in-person and virtual events, leveraging social media and app-based platforms, and fostering relationships with local businesses and community partners.
In this role, the Outreach Coordinator works closely with Program Managers, Directors, Peer Educators, and client advocates to design and implement data-driven, community-informed outreach plans. The objective is to build targeted and effective outreach campaigns that resonate with and engage at-risk populations, particularly focusing on marginalized groups such as LGBTQ individuals, immigrants, and communities affected by substance abuse and mental health conditions. The coordinator also ensures that all outreach materials—ranging from printed brochures to digital content like social media banners and videos—are regularly updated and culturally appropriate.
Regular assessment and reporting of outreach effectiveness are also critical components of this position, requiring the use of analytic methods to measure success and inform continuous improvement. The position demands strong organizational skills to maintain a calendar of outreach activities, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and execute promotional strategies efficiently. Flexibility to work during evenings and weekends for events is necessary, along with proficiency in MS Office Suite and excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
Furthermore, the Outreach Coordinator plays a key role in volunteer recruitment for program promotions and must possess the ability to present information professionally under pressure. Customer service skills and the ability to collaborate with a diverse community underpin the success in this role. Fluency in Spanish is preferred to enhance communication with Spanish-speaking populations in the community. The position offers a unique opportunity for a motivated individual with a background in Public Relations, Journalism, Social Services, Marketing, or related fields to make a meaningful impact on public health outcomes related to HIV prevention and treatment within Brooklyn’s diverse neighborhoods.
