Job Description
Athens Orthopedic Clinic (AOC) is a premier private orthopedic practice renowned for its 60-year tradition of clinical excellence in North Georgia. With a broad regional footprint encompassing 11 locations, AOC serves over 230,000 patients annually. The clinic is committed to providing comprehensive musculoskeletal (MSK) care through an industry-leading Orthopedic Platform that includes a full range of MSK specialties, Occupational Medicine Center, MRI and CT Imaging Centers, an extensive network of Outpatient Therapy Centers, and a multi-site wholly owned Ambulatory Surgery Center Division.
Beyond clinical excellence, AOC also focuses on education and research as part of its triple aim. The clinic has hosted over 150 medical students in the last decade, demonstrating its role as a teaching center committed to advancing orthopedic knowledge and clinical skills. Additionally, it actively conducts clinical research initiatives to foster innovation and continuous quality improvement within the field of orthopedics. These ongoing efforts make AOC a leader not only in patient care but also in shaping the future of orthopedic medicine.
The role of the Orderly at Athens Orthopedic Clinic supports surgical teams by ensuring the surgical environment is clean, safe, and organized. This position plays a critical role in facilitating efficient surgical operations by assisting with patient transport, room turnover, and equipment setup and breakdown, emphasizing non-clinical responsibilities that directly contribute to patient safety and workflow continuity within the perioperative process. The Orderly also maintains and manages surgical supplies, ensuring inventory levels are adequate, orders are accurate, and supplies are received and distributed timely. By collaborating closely with clinical staff, including the Director of Nursing and Administrator, the Orderly helps anticipate special procedure needs and contributes substantially to the smooth operation of the ambulatory surgery centers.
The ideal candidate for this role will have at least two years of experience as an orderly, preferably within an Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC) environment, along with material management experience and proficiency in medical terminology. Strong interpersonal skills, professionalism, critical thinking, organizational abilities, and the capability to work independently are essential attributes. Physically, the role demands the ability to perform heavy lifting and patient transfers safely, handling up to 50 pounds unassisted, and requires frequent movements such as bending, reaching, and standing throughout the shift. The candidate must also be capable of clear communication in English and exhibit adequate visual and auditory acuity to perform job duties efficiently and safely.
This position reports directly to the Clinical Director and plays a vital part in maintaining the high standards of care and operational efficiency that Athens Orthopedic Clinic is known for. By joining AOC, the Orderly becomes part of a distinguished healthcare team dedicated to improving orthopedic patient outcomes and supporting a thriving environment for medical education and research. This is an exceptional opportunity for those seeking a stable, professionally rewarding career in a respected private orthopedic practice with a well-established reputation and a comprehensive approach to musculoskeletal healthcare.
