This position is for a full-time Operating Room (OR) Nurse Manager, working Monday through Friday from 6:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The role is vital within the surgical patient care population, overseeing a large team with a patient ratio of 1:117 operating rooms. The Nurse OR Manager works hand-in-hand with various professional teams within this acute care setting, including nursing staff, physicians, quality leadership, and human resources, to ensure a culture of safety, effective resource management, and continuous professional development.
The Nurse Operating Room Manager is responsible for creating and maintaining a supportive and professional work environment. This leadership role emphasizes professional nursing practice, teamwork, collaboration, and patient-focused care. The manager is involved in planning, developing, and implementing nursing policies and procedures while overseeing budgets, resources, quality initiatives, and educational programs to support staff and improve patient outcomes. Additionally, the OR Manager conducts regular meetings with staff and physicians, manages daily operational briefings, and ensures compliance with transplant guidelines and risk management protocols.
Key responsibilities include conducting monthly one-on-one staff meetings, formal physician meetings to review supplies and equipment, and daily purposeful rounding to address employee concerns and foster a culture of safety. The individual also monitors ongoing transplant program developments, manages responses to incident reports, and oversees disciplinary processes when necessary.
A successful candidate will demonstrate leadership by establishing a clear vision for nursing practices and fostering an environment that promotes continuous improvement and excellence in surgical patient care. This position requires staying current with new nursing research, best practices, and patient care models, as well as proactively addressing any ethical or clinical issues. The OR Nurse Manager must have strong computer skills to manage schedules, payroll systems, patient records, and internal communications efficiently.

This role requires significant experience, including at least five years of recent operating room experience, two years as an OR Supervisor within an acute care hospital, and preferably recent experience as an OR Manager. A Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is mandatory, with a master’s degree preferred but not required. Certification as a CNOR or willingness to obtain one within the first year is encouraged to maintain the highest level of clinical expertise. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, or the ability to obtain it within thirty days of hire, is also essential.

Job Requirements

- minimum 5 years recent operating room experience
- at least 2 years recent OR supervisor experience in an acute care hospital
