At Penske Logistics, the Operations Supervisor plays a pivotal role in ensuring smooth daily operations at a single facility, with a focus on supervising drivers and hourly associates to fulfill customer requirements while achieving company goals. This position involves leading a team dedicated to delivering high-quality customer service, managing freight handling tasks such as the loading and unloading of trailers, and overseeing carrier operations to maintain compliance with company standards. The Operations Supervisor is responsible for the direct management of staff, including performance evaluation, coaching, and disciplinary actions up to a written warning level. They remain deeply involved in the hiring process, operational planning, and customer communication to maintain alignment with business objectives and customer satisfaction.

This role is a full-time position with scheduled hours from Monday to Friday, 5:00 AM to 3:00 PM, although hours may vary depending on business needs. The salary range for the Operations Supervisor role is competitive, ranging between $65,000 and $75,000 annually, and includes eligibility for performance-based bonuses up to 12% of the base salary. Job Duties

  • Establish and sustain training and competence among supervisors and associates
  • Communicate specific and measurable performance standards
  • Interview hourly associates and provide hiring recommendations
  • Monitor attendance and productivity
  • Provide coaching and counseling to associates
  • Motivate and engage associates with team accomplishments
  • Supervise logistics operations including customer service, freight loading/unloading, dispatch, and documentation
  • Conduct team meetings
  • Evaluate and recommend work methods to increase productivity
  • Provide relief coverage for operational duties
  • Ensure compliance with site operating systems and operational procedures
  • Complete reports and records timely and accurately
  • Ensure compliance with financial policies including tracking MPG, returns, damages
  • Manage associates' working hours to minimize overtime and meet productivity targets
  • Align management and associate activities with safety strategy
  • Provide safety communication, training, feedback, and direction
  • Conduct safety observations and ensure regulatory compliance
  • Understand customer goals and work to exceed expectations
  • Identify areas for continuous improvement
  • Plan work assignments to ensure effective equipment use
  • Ensure safe and efficient operation of fleet equipment
  • Coordinate with vendors and Penske Truck Leasing for equipment maintenance
  • Perform other projects and tasks as assigned
