Job Description

Marriott International is a leading global hospitality company renowned for its exceptional hotel and resort operations around the world. With a strong commitment to diversity, inclusion, and providing equal opportunities, Marriott fosters a welcoming environment where employees from different backgrounds can thrive and grow. The company is especially known for its Courtyard brand, which was designed specifically for business travelers and focuses on offering a seamless and comfortable guest experience. Marriott is dedicated to empowering its associates, encouraging continuous learning, and promoting a culture where team members feel valued and supported in achieving both personal and professional goals.

This full-time, non-management position is based at Courtyard's location in Phoenix, Arizona, within the Rooms & Guest Services Operations department. The role centers on delivering outstanding guest service by efficiently managing front desk operations and maintaining accurate administrative records. Responsibilities include completing designated cashier and closing reports, reviewing employee shift logs and memos, and communicating with appropriate departments such as Bell Services and Housekeeping to address guest requests and resolve issues quickly.

An important part of the role involves processing guest check-ins by confirming reservations, verifying identities, collecting payment, assigning rooms, and issuing room keys. The position also entails selling rooms to walk-in guests subject to availability while ensuring prices comply with market standards and documenting any rate exceptions. In addition, the role requires managing room charges from various points of sale, such as the gym or retail shop, by scanning and posting them to guest accounts. Successful candidates will assist management in employee training, evaluation, mentoring, motivation, discipline, and will serve as a role model and initial contact for the company’s open door and fair treatment policies.

This position demands vigilance regarding workplace safety by reporting accidents, injuries, and unsafe conditions, as well as completing mandatory safety training and certifications. Strict adherence to company policies, maintenance of a professional appearance and demeanor, protection of confidential information, and safeguarding company assets are all essential duties. The role requires courteous and professional communication with guests and team members, effectively handling phone calls, anticipating guest needs, accommodating persons with disabilities, and fostering positive working relationships. The job includes physical activity such as standing, walking, or sitting for extended periods and moving objects weighing up to 25 pounds without assistance.

Candidates with a high school diploma or GED and at least one year of relevant work experience are preferred, though supervisory experience is not required. A valid driver's license and weekend availability are also preferred. Marriott International prides itself on creating an inclusive environment, actively celebrating the diverse talents and backgrounds of its staff. By joining Courtyard at Marriott International, employees become part of a global team dedicated to excellence in guest service and continuous improvement, supported by an organization that values both its clients and its associates. This position offers an opportunity to contribute meaningfully to an iconic hospitality brand while developing one’s career in the fast-paced and rewarding hotel industry.
