As part of the larger PITT OHIO network, the company benefits from extensive transportation expertise and resources, positioning itself as a reliable partner for its customers. US Cargo's expansion into Less Than Truckload (LTL) freight services marks a strategic growth phase that enhances its capabilities while maintaining its core values. The company prides itself on fostering a people-first, respectful work environment and takes great care to provide well-maintained equipment and facilities, supporting both safety and productivity.
The role of Operations Shift Supervisor at US Cargo’s Brook Park, OH terminal is a critical position focused on ensuring smooth and efficient daily operations. The position operates Monday through Friday, starting at 5 AM, reflecting the early start times often required in the transportation and logistics industry. This supervisory role requires a candidate who can proficiently oversee dockworkers and drivers, manage scheduling, and guarantee compliance with safety and regulatory standards. The Operations Shift Supervisor plays a pivotal role in planning delivery routes, communicating operational strategies to the team, and supporting onboarding processes for new employees to maintain operational consistency and excellence.
This role demands strong interpersonal communication skills and a fluent command of English to effectively coordinate with internal staff and external customers. Candidates need to have a good understanding of hazardous materials and Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations to ensure compliance and safety in all transport activities. Physical stamina is important since the work environment can be demanding, including lifting heavy loads up to 50 pounds, standing, walking, and occasionally working in harsh weather conditions. The Operations Shift Supervisor must also be adept with Microsoft Office Suite to handle paperwork, scheduling, and reporting functions efficiently. A background in trucking or similar transportation fields along with supervisory experience is highly valued for success in this role. In essence, this position is ideal for an individual who thrives in a fast-paced, hands-on environment and is passionate about logistics operations while being committed to fostering a positive and collaborative workplace culture. The company offers competitive pay, comprehensive medical, dental, and vision benefits, 401(k) options, paid time off and holidays, and a supportive, respectful work environment that makes US Cargo an excellent employer in the transportation sector.
