The Operations Manager role at Oak View Group is a pivotal position within the hospitality division, reporting directly to the General Manager of Hospitality. This full-time position offers an annual salary range of $70,000 to $75,000 and is designed for individuals with strong leadership qualities and extensive experience in food and beverage operations, particularly within live event settings. The Operations Manager is tasked with overseeing the efficient, professional, and profitable operation of food and beverage services throughout the venue. Key responsibilities include supervising and mentoring staff to uphold company quality standards, managing employee relations, and making independent decisions related to employment actions such as hiring and disciplinary measures.
This role requires flexibility to work a variable, event-driven schedule including evenings and weekends, ensuring that operations run smoothly during live events. The individual must exhibit excellent attendance, professional presentation, and outstanding interpersonal skills. The Operations Manager will also be responsible for monitoring compliance with alcohol service policies, managing catered and concession events from set-up to tear down, analyzing financial data to maintain budget control, and collaborating closely with other departments to optimize staffing and operational efficiency. Job Requirements
- BA or BS degree preferred
- At least 2 years management experience in food and beverage
- 3-5 plus years experience in banquet, concessions, or catering
- Experience with catering sales preferred
- Experience managing arena, stadium, or amphitheater concessions preferred
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to make quick operational decisions
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and POS systems
- Ability to work in fast-paced event environment
- Knowledge of inventory cost control and menu planning
- Knowledge of sanitation and safety standards
- Strong math skills
- Cash handling experience
- High integrity and professionalism
Job Qualifications
- BA or BS with a business-related or hospitality management major is strongly preferred
- Minimum 2 years of management experience in the food and beverage industry
- Minimum 3-5 plus years experience in high-volume banquets, concessions, a la carte restaurant catering, or premium suite catering
- Previous professional experience with catering sales is strongly preferred
- Previous experience managing concessions operations, preferably arena, stadium, or amphitheater
- Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with all levels of staff and guests
- Ability to make sound business and operational decisions quickly under pressure
- Solid working knowledge of Microsoft Office, POS systems, and timekeeping systems
- Ability to work well in a team-oriented, fast-paced, event-driven environment
- Familiar with inventory cost control and menu planning
- Thorough knowledge of sanitation, food preparation, alcohol service, and safety standards relevant to OVG and venue operations
- Ability to perform basic and complex math functions
- Ability to handle cash accurately and responsibly
- Ability to adhere to high standards of integrity, professionalism, ethics, and confidentiality
Job Duties
- Assist in the overall effective management of the catering and concessions operations
- Ensure total compliance with all alcohol service policies
- Monitor alcohol service throughout the event to ensure 100 percent compliance
- Report any alcohol service or compliance issues immediately
- Manage catered and concession events from set-up to tear-down
- Ensure legal, efficient, professional, and profitable operation of the venue
- Review and analyze financial reports including budgets, projections, forecasting, revenue analysis, disbursements, capital investments, labor and product costs, wage and salary control, and P&L statements
- Conflict resolution and labor negotiations as applicable
- Author, review, and amend policies and procedures
- Oversee scheduling and labor allocation
- Analyze ticket sales to anticipate staffing needs
- Evaluate sales and purchasing data to identify purchasing patterns and cost of goods
- Program and maintain POS system
- Manage supervisors in preparing and attaining future goals
- Provide direction and follow-up on assignments
- Inspect operation regularly to maintain quality standards
- Prepare and submit reports timely
- Train and develop an effective team
- Review and assist in menu and marketing plan development
- Establish and maintain professional relationships with show managers, suppliers, vendors, and the public
