Penske Logistics LLC is currently seeking an energetic and team-oriented Operations Manager to join their team at the Bolingbrook, Illinois location. This is a full-time position offering a competitive salary ranging from $85,600 to $115,600 annually, with potential bonus eligibility up to 30% of the base salary based on individual and location performance.
The role of Operations Manager at Penske Logistics is a dynamic leadership position focused on supervising drivers and other staff to ensure the achievement of customer requirements while meeting Penske's business goals and objectives. This position demands a leader who consistently exceeds established operational goals and who possesses the ability to develop and execute forward-looking plans. The Operations Manager is responsible for managing financial resources effectively to meet or exceed site financial operating plans, as well as fostering a culture of safety by implementing measures that maintain an incident-free workplace. This role involves managing day-to-day operations, maintaining strong relationships with customers and internal departments, and leading continuous improvement initiatives.
Key responsibilities include recruiting, training, developing, and retaining high-quality team members while maintaining effective two-way communication to motivate and recognize excellence within the team. The Operations Manager will also collaborate with other Penske sites to share best practices and improve efficiencies across the network. A significant part of the role is to achieve or surpass key performance metrics related to customer satisfaction, operational efficiency, and financial targets.
Candidates must show strong leadership skills, with a proven record of managing DOT-regulated teams, and demonstrate an ability to drive change while managing resources responsibly. The position requires proficiency with various computer applications including Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint. Strong communication skills are essential, including the ability to present information clearly and listen actively. The Operations Manager will work a schedule from Monday to Friday, 10:00 AM to 9:00 PM, with hours possibly varying based on business needs.
Physical and mental demands for this position include the ability to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods, occasionally lift up to 25 pounds, and have specific vision abilities such as close, distance, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Job Duties
- establish and sustain that all supervisors and associates are trained and competent and understand how their work relates to the customers' business objectives
- establish and sustain that we recruit, hire, train, develop and retain quality associates

- establish and sustain strong and effective relationships with associates, the customer, and supporting departments

- ensure customer billings and associate payroll are prepared timely and accurately, the payables and intercompany charges are valid and correct, and all other activities are accurately reflected in the P&L

- develop, execute, and assess continuous improvement plan to reduce accident and injury frequency
- ensure each associate understands their individual role and responsibilities, as well as the group's role and responsibilities required to achieve and maintain a safe work place
