The Operations Manager position at Newrest plays a critical role in the daily management of operations within the unit. This role involves overseeing production, logistics, supply chain management, safety compliance, quality control, personnel, and customer service functions to maintain the highest levels of service and quality standards. Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in operations management, business management, or related field
  • Minimum of seven years experience in relevant industries
  • Experience managing large teams indirectly
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • Ability to handle conflict and de-escalate emotional situations
  • Knowledge of OSHA, HR, and employment laws
  • Understanding of investigation and root cause analysis
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles
  • Knowledge of HACCP and food safety standards
  • Strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in operations management, business management, or related field
  • Minimum of seven years experience in in-flight catering, airport hub environment, manufacturing, logistics, or food industry
  • Experience managing over 100 exempt-level employees indirectly
  • Strong leadership experience including in startup or turnaround environments
  • Excellent communication skills across all management levels
  • Ability to handle conflict and de-escalate situations effectively
  • Knowledge of OSHA, HR, and employment laws
  • Proficient in investigation procedures and root cause analysis
  • Understanding of lean manufacturing principles and operational processes
  • Strong knowledge of HACCP and food safety standards
  • Strategic thinker with excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Resilient self-starter with ability to learn quickly and act independently
  • Detail-oriented with ability to see the big picture
  • Proficient in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint

Job Duties

  • Infuse the Newrest culture throughout the facility and lead by example
  • Hold managers accountable for meeting expectations and KPIs
  • Mentor and coach managers to ensure performance and adherence to policy and culture
  • Train, coach, and mentor managers and direct reports to build a strong talent bench
  • Ensure compliance with all policies, procedures, and client requirements
  • Communicate effectively with all team members
  • Manage the entire unit's operations including production, logistics, supply, safety, quality, personnel, and customer service
  • Ensure adherence to quality and safety procedures and programs
  • Ensure all catering needs are met promptly
  • Meet customer and KPI standards
  • Plan and foresee operational issues to prevent delays and hazards
  • Develop and implement methods to improve operations and product quality
  • Review finances and ensure budget compliance
  • Drive improvements in productivity, cost reduction, and waste management
  • Ensure all processes conform to customer and Newrest specifications
  • Comply with hygiene and manufacturing practices such as HACCP and FIFO
  • Investigate and document incidents and accidents
  • Enforce safety and legal requirements
  • Evaluate talent and address performance issues
  • Enhance employee morale and engagement
  • Handle employee and management concerns and escalate as necessary
  • Perform other operational duties as assigned
