Role Overview The Operations Chef at AFC is a critical role responsible for preparing and presenting sushi and hot food items according to company standards. This position requires adherence to strict food safety protocols, sanitation practices, and excellence in food presentation. The role involves following daily production plans, managing inventory efficiently to minimize waste, and ensuring all documentation such as logbooks is completed accurately. Working in a fast-paced and dynamic industry, the Operations Chef must be adaptable to changing store assignments which may sometimes include travel to different retail locations or nearby cities. This is a temporary full-time position with work hours and locations based on business needs and assignment availability.
A strong focus of the job is delivering outstanding customer service and working collaboratively with store teams to enhance the dining experience for every customer. The role demands reliability, flexibility, and a willingness to travel, as well as the ability to maintain high standards for personal appearance and professional conduct. Candidates must hold a valid Manager’s ServSafe Certification and Allergen Certificate for U.S.-based roles, or a Food Handler’s Certification for those in Canada. The Operations Chef will frequently use business applications such as ADP for payroll and HR functions and Concur for expense reimbursements, emphasizing the need for well-rounded computer skills.

Job Requirements
- High school education or equivalent
- Proven experience as a sushi chef or in similar culinary role
- Valid Manager’s ServSafe Certification and Allergen Certificate or Food Handler's Certification for Canada
- Flexibility to work at various retail locations including travel
- Availability to work evenings weekends and holidays
- Ability to work quickly and maintain quality
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Willingness to travel
- Ability to maintain professional appearance and conduct
Job Qualifications
- High school or vocational school coursework in kitchen basics such as food safety preferred
- Proven experience as a sushi chef or similar culinary role
- Strong knife skills with knowledge of traditional and modern sushi preparation techniques
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
- Manager’s ServSafe Certification and valid Allergen Certificate for U.S. candidates
- Valid Food Handler’s Certification for Canada candidates
- Flexibility to work at different locations
- Ability to travel
- Experience with business applications such as ADP and Concur is a plus

Job Duties
- Prepare and present high-quality sushi and hot food items including core menu and promotional offerings
- Ensure all ingredients are fresh properly stored and prepared according to food safety standards
- Maintain a clean organized and sanitary workstation at all times
- Conduct regular inventory checks report shortages and assist with restocking
- Produce sushi and hot food based on Daily Production Report to meet sales and operational goals
- Complete required logbooks accurately as per Standard Sanitation Operating Procedures
- Provide exceptional customer service through positive professional and courteous interactions
- Communicate clearly and professionally with team members store staff and management
- Uphold company standards of appearance conduct and professionalism including uniform and ID use
- Travel to various retail locations including occasional extended periods
- Work evenings weekends and holidays as necessary
- Maintain active Manager’s ServSafe Certification and Allergen Certificate
- Perform additional duties such as purchasing produce for inventory and occasional delivery services
