The Colony Surf Lounge Operating Partner is a strategic leadership role that centers on managing a surf-oriented lifestyle venue owned by PopStroke. This leader is responsible for transforming the Lounge into the premier destination for hospitality, recreation, and membership experiences. Unlike a typical operations role, this position demands visionary leadership that merges surf culture with community engagement, unique programming, and exclusive social experiences. The operating partner owns all facets of the Lounge, including surf programming, lessons, membership sales, guest service, event scheduling, food and beverage operations, staffing, revenue growth, and overall venue activation.

This role requires the cultivation of a high-energy, hospitality-driven surf destination that attracts diverse audiences, including members, surf participants, families, spectators, social guests, and attendees of community events. By fusing operational expertise with innovative sales and brand strategies, the operating partner elevates the Surf Lounge into a flagship location recognized for its vibrant atmosphere, outstanding guest experiences, and strong community ties. Reporting to the VP of Operations, this leader ensures alignment with PopStroke's brand and local market goals, emphasizing membership growth, consistent revenue from surf lessons, repeat visitation, and maximizing nights and weekends for business growth.

Success in this role involves exceeding membership sales targets, generating sustainable revenue from surf lessons, increasing venue traffic from both active participants and spectators, and positioning the Surf Lounge as a local lifestyle hub. The operating partner spearheads development of surf lesson programs for various skill levels, creates community-building events such as surf competitions and special surf nights, and maintains premium service standards throughout all operations. Additionally, this leader manages recruitment, training, and development of diverse teams covering surf instruction, hospitality, membership sales, food and beverage, and event management.

The operating partner also guarantees operational excellence through strict monitoring of sales, membership KPIs, lesson revenues, labor management, guest satisfaction metrics, safety, and facility maintenance. This comprehensive leadership role requires a blend of entrepreneurial spirit, hospitality passion, sales acumen, and strategic operational management to build a destination-worthy venue that resonates with surf culture and delivers unforgettable guest experiences. With an annual salary range of $90,000 to $110,000, this opportunity is ideal for leaders passionate about combining hospitality, recreation, and community into a uniquely engaging surf lifestyle venue.

Job Requirements

  • Minimum of 7 years of relevant leadership experience

  • Ability to lead high-energy, guest-focused environments
  • Comfortable balancing hospitality with revenue growth

Job Duties

  • Lead all aspects of Surf Lounge operations
  • Own daily business performance
  • Ensure the venue is consistently active and revenue-generating
  • Oversee surf experiences, lessons, lounge spaces, and hospitality
  • Maximize venue utilization
  • Build the Surf Lounge into a flagship destination

  • Work in conjunction with PopStroke Colony leadership to ensure cross-brand engagement and business alignment
  • Own membership growth strategy
  • Drive membership enrollments, surf lesson sales, repeat guest visits, group bookings, event sales, private parties, community activations
  • Build scalable membership funnels
  • Ensure surf instruction drives long-term guest retention
  • Maximize every guest touchpoint for revenue opportunity
  • Develop surf lessons and training programs
  • Build beginner-to-advanced programming
  • Partner with instructors and surf staff
  • Create competitions, surf nights, camps, and special events
  • Build a community around surf culture
  • Ensure both active participants and spectators are engaged
  • Create reasons for guests to stay, spend, and return
  • Deliver premium guest experiences
