Job Description

Snowbird is a premier mountain resort located in the heart of the Wasatch Mountain Range near Salt Lake City, Utah. Known for its breathtaking scenery and challenging terrain, Snowbird has established itself as a year-round destination that offers both thrilling winter sports and vibrant summer activities. This unique resort not only captivates visitors with its natural beauty but also fosters a welcoming and dynamic work environment where employees share a passion for the outdoors and exceptional customer service. Snowbird provides a variety of employment opportunities including full-time, part-time, seasonal, and multi-seasonal positions to accommodate a wide range of career preferences and lifestyles.

The resort is currently seeking motivated individuals to join its seasonal Oktoberfest team as Oktoberfest Cooks at the Snowbird Center. This is a part-time, seasonal role primarily scheduled on weekends, including Saturdays, Sundays, and Labor Day, with shifts typically running from 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM. The position pays $19.50 per hour plus tips, offering competitive compensation relative to seasonal work.

As an Oktoberfest Cook, you will play a vital role in delivering an exceptional guest experience during one of Utah’s most anticipated annual events. Snowbird’s Oktoberfest, running from mid-August through mid-October, celebrates German heritage with authentic cuisine, live entertainment, family-oriented activities, and world-class brews. This lively festival attracts thousands of guests each year, creating an energetic and fast-paced atmosphere that requires dedicated team members who can perform well under pressure.

The role involves food preparation and service, maintaining cleanliness and sanitation standards, cashiering, stocking, bussing tables, and various other duties essential to successful event operations. You will take direction from the Chef and the Sous Chef to ensure your station is fully prepared and maintained throughout your shift while working collaboratively with the kitchen team. Besides food service, responsibilities include setting up and tearing down the event space, managing guest concerns professionally, and adhering to all health and safety regulations.

Candidates should possess basic culinary skills, including the ability to learn recipes, proper knife handling, and multitasking capabilities to handle simultaneous prep tasks efficiently. Effective communication in English and the ability to work independently or within a team are crucial. This role demands physical stamina to stand for extended periods, lift up to 30 pounds, carry trays, and work in varying weather conditions typical of a mountain environment.

Successful applicants are required to obtain a Food Handler’s Permit by the training date and must be at least 18 years old. The work schedule is fixed on weekends for the duration of the event season, with mandatory attendance at an orientation session. Uniform requirements include solid black pants, comfortable closed-toe shoes, and the provision of a uniform shirt, apron, hat, and name tag by the employer. Snowbird emphasizes professionalism, safety, and teamwork throughout its operations.

By joining Snowbird’s Oktoberfest team, you become part of a vibrant community event deeply rooted in tradition and cultural celebration. The resort offers a supportive and fun work environment where employees enjoy perks such as competitive pay, employee discounts on dining, retail, lodging, and daycare, and the unique opportunity to contribute to a well-known festival in an extraordinary mountain setting. Whether you are passionate about outdoor adventures or enjoy engaging with guests in a high-energy hospitality setting, this role provides invaluable experience and the chance to be part of a memorable celebration at Snowbird.
