Job Description

The hiring organization operates within the healthcare sector, specializing in providing comprehensive nutrition services to patients and residents within a hospital or clinical environment. Their Nutrition Services department is dedicated to ensuring that every patient receives meals that meet both their dietary needs and preferences, contributing to their overall health and recovery. The company emphasizes high standards of food safety, hygiene, and customer service, aligning with regulatory requirements such as HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point) and sanitation protocols.

This organization is seeking to fill the position of Nutrition Services Aide, an entry-level role vital to the daily operations of the food service team within the nutrition department. The position offers an hourly wage ranging between $15.90 and $22.26, reflecting the company's commitment to fair compensation. Applicants are required to be at least 16 years old, with a preference for candidates who have completed a high school diploma or GED.

The Nutrition Services Aide plays a crucial role in assembling, delivering, and collecting room service trays for patients along with standard patient trays. Responsibilities extend to food preparation duties such as preparing cold foods and assisting in various other tasks throughout the nutrition department, including serving food, managing the tray line, and washing dishes. Attention to detail and adherence to food safety and cleanliness standards are paramount in this role. This position involves regular interaction with patients and residents, requiring excellent communication skills and a courteous, professional demeanor.

Key duties include handling all aspects related to meal tray management—assembling trays accurately, delivering them timely to patients, ensuring trays are set up properly before leaving patients’ rooms, and collecting used trays for cleaning. The aide is also tasked with cleaning and sanitizing the work environment, equipment, utensils, dishes, and silverware, maintaining the highest level of hygiene. Additionally, this role involves restocking supplies such as silverware, plates, and condiments to ensure seamless daily operations.

The Nutrition Services Aide works under the supervision and guidance of the Nutrition Services Aide Lead, responsible for completing assigned daily tasks efficiently. Food safety is closely monitored through temperature checks of food items and completion of sanitation paperwork to ensure compliance with health regulations before the end of each shift. The aide is also expected to maintain confidentiality according to relevant rules and regulations.

Beyond food handling and preparation, the aide may be involved in cashier duties such as issuing receipts, refunds, credits, or change to customers, tabulating bills using cash registers and price scanners, as well as reconciling daily deposits. The ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced hospital environment and maintain a positive attitude is crucial for success in this role.

In summary, the Nutrition Services Aide position is an essential role for individuals looking to begin their career in healthcare food services, offering hands-on experience in patient care through nutritional support. This opportunity provides valuable insight into hospital nutrition operations and a chance to make a tangible impact on patient wellbeing. The company fosters a supportive work environment where attention to detail, teamwork, and dedication to food safety are highly valued.
