The Nutrition Manager is responsible for directing the department's nutrition initiatives across three senior centers and the Meals on Wheels program, ensuring adherence to health inspection standards and food safety regulations. This role requires active management and training of staff in critical areas such as food safety, sanitation, appropriate portion sizes, and temperature control to sustain compliance with regulatory standards. The manager collaborates closely with the Wellness Center café and Meals on Wheels food vendors to maintain effective communication channels and quickly resolve any operational or quality concerns.

Harnessing the expertise of a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN), the Nutrition Manager develops engaging and informative nutrition education materials and supports menu planning and analysis. They partner with vendor dietitians to tailor menus that meet the diverse dietary requirements of senior clients while monitoring and evaluating the nutritional content for quality assurance. The Nutrition Manager also conducts nutrition assessments and counseling sessions, particularly for high-risk clients, ensuring that tailored therapeutic diets such as mechanical soft or renal diets are implemented following medical orders or professional judgment.

This role demands a comprehensive understanding of nutrition science and senior care, along with strong administrative skills to manage program budgets, personnel, and compliance activities. The manager oversees hiring, staff evaluations, policy development, and interdepartmental coordination to continuously improve the service delivery model. The position requires a valid registration and license issued by the Georgia Board of Examiners of Licensed Dietitian; provisional licensure may be accepted if supervised by a registered RDN on staff.
