Job Description

Del Sol Medical Center is a full-service, acute-care hospital located in east El Paso, Texas. With over 300 patient beds, this hospital holds a Level II trauma designation, making it a critical healthcare provider in the region. Del Sol Medical Center offers a comprehensive range of services including emergency care, cardiac care, women’s services, a Level III neonatal intensive care unit (NICU), rehabilitation, a bariatric clinic, and a Minimally Invasive Surgery Center. It is part of the larger Las Palmas Del Sol Healthcare system and affiliated with HCA Healthcare, one of the most respected and ethical healthcare providers nationally. HCA Healthcare has received recognition as one of the World’s Most Ethical Companies® by the Ethisphere Institute more than ten times and is known for its substantial investments in charitable care and community health services, committing billions to support those without insurance or with limited resources.

The role of Nutrition Aide at Del Sol Medical Center is designed for individuals passionate about enhancing the patient experience by supporting the nutritional needs of patients in a hospital setting. This is an entry-level position that offers an excellent opportunity to begin or grow a career in healthcare nutrition and food service. The Nutrition Aide plays a vital role in maintaining cleanliness and efficiency in food preparation and delivery areas, promoting safety, hygiene, and patient satisfaction throughout the dining process.

Under direct supervision, the Nutrition Aide is responsible for washing pots and dishes either manually or using dishwashing machines, ensuring that kitchen and cafeteria waste is properly disposed of at the trash compactor, and delivering and cleaning items to their designated storage areas. In addition to operational support, this role involves assembling patient trays, delivering food carts to the patient units, returning carts after meals, and assisting with food production tasks. The position demands attention to detail in maintaining cleanliness by sweeping and mopping floors, including challenging areas under tables and refrigeration units, alongside performing daily assigned cleaning duties.

This position requires a high school diploma or equivalent, the ability to read and follow English instructions and production sheets, and a Food Handlers Card or ability to obtain one within 30 days of employment. Physical demands include the ability to stoop, lift, reach, carry heavy supplies, and stand for extended periods, reflecting the active nature of the job. The Nutrition Aide must demonstrate skills in teamwork, communication, and adaptability, operating within hospital policies to ensure patient safety, infection control, and a supportive environment.

Del Sol Medical Center values professionalism, ethical conduct, and continuous personal growth among its staff, aligning with the broader HCA Healthcare commitment to delivering patient-centered care with warmth, compassion, and dignity. Employees are encouraged to contribute to performance improvement efforts, waste reduction, and effective communication to support departmental and organizational goals.

Working at Del Sol Medical Center offers a rewarding career path for those who are motivated by service and eager to make a positive difference in patients' lives. The facility's extensive support services, educational opportunities, and strong ethical foundation provide an ideal environment for professional development and satisfaction.
