The Nursing Education Specialist or RN Nursing Educator role at University Hospital is an exciting opportunity to join the Level 1 Trauma Emergency Medicine and Transport Teams. This full-time salaried position generally follows a Monday through Friday, day shift schedule, but may require occasional evening, weekend, or off-hour work depending on operational needs. The role primarily operates at University Hospital with some travel required.
As a Nursing Education Specialist or RN Nursing Educator, you will take a leadership role in onboarding and continuing professional development for experienced nursing staff within the adult trauma emergency department and critical care transport services, including Med Flight air and ground teams. You will be responsible for designing, implementing, and evaluating comprehensive education programs that support emergency and transport nursing staff, encompassing extended orientation periods of up to 20 weeks and specialty competency training. Your work will involve close collaboration with Emergency Department and Transport Clinical Nurse Specialists (CNSs), nursing leadership, and interprofessional teams to promote evidence-based clinical practice, clinical excellence, and patient safety.
This role supports nursing practice in a fast-paced, academic medical environment that delivers advanced emergency, trauma, stroke, STEMI, ECPR, and critical care transport services throughout the region. By serving as a clinical education resource and mentor, you will contribute to professional growth across emergency and transport nursing teams, working in partnership with Nurse Residency educators when applicable. Additionally, you will engage in broader organizational initiatives, shared governance activities, and system-wide education efforts that align with UW Health priorities.
Preferred candidates should have at least three years of emergency medicine nursing experience, including practice in emergency rooms, critical care transport, or Med Flight, along with experience in nursing education. This is an opportunity to work at one of the most innovative and respected healthcare institutions nationally, with access to excellent resources and a supportive environment for advancing your nursing career. The pay ranges for this position depend on the specific title: RN Nursing Educator salaries range from $90,552 to $135,784, and Nursing Education Specialist salaries range from $97,764 to $146,646, with salary proration based on full-time equivalent. Relocation assistance may also be available for qualified applicants.

Employees benefit from resources through the UW Health Employee Wellbeing Department which supports emotional, financial, and physical wellness, and the hospital maintains acuity-based staffing ratios to ensure optimal safety. A robust shared governance structure gives nurses a voice in decision-making, and nursing excellence is celebrated through multiple award programs across inpatient and outpatient settings. Tuition benefits are available to support professional growth and career advancement, and a referral bonus program offers additional income opportunities for recommending qualified candidates.
