The Nursing Assistant (CNA, NA) role at UW Health is vital to supporting Registered Nurses across various units including General Care, Intermediate Care, Intensive Care Unit (ICU)/Critical Care, and Pediatrics. This position is flexible, offering part-time to full-time schedules ranging from 24 to 40 hours per week, including weekend and holiday assignments. Shift options are diverse, covering day, evening, night, and combined shifts to accommodate work-life balance. External hires may be eligible for a sign-on bonus, and compensation includes shift differentials and overtime opportunities.
As a Nursing Assistant, you will provide direct patient care by assisting with daily living activities such as repositioning, transferring, mobility, and intentional rounding. Strong interpersonal skills are essential as this role requires engaging with patients, their families, and visitors to cultivate trusting relationships and deliver compassionate, high-quality care. This role also adheres strictly to hospital policies and procedures while performing basic nursing treatments and supporting clinical teams. Job Requirements
- Graduate of a State of Wisconsin approved Nurse Aid Training Program
- Listed on the State of Wisconsin Nurse Assistant/Home Health Aid Registry upon hire
- BLS/CPR certification within 3 months
- Ability to work 24-40 hours per week including weekends and holidays
- Flexible to work various shifts including day, evening, and night
- Strong communication skills
- Commitment to high-quality patient care
Job Qualifications
- Graduate of a State of Wisconsin approved Nurse Aid Training Program
- Listed on the State of Wisconsin Nurse Assistant/Home Health Aid Registry upon hire
- BLS/CPR certification within 3 months of hire
- Preferred 1 year recent experience as a Nursing Assistant
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Job Duties
- Support registered nurses on general care, intermediate care, ICU/critical care, and pediatrics units
- Provide direct physical care and basic nursing procedures according to hospital policies
- Assist with activities of daily living, repositioning, transfers, and patient mobility
- Conduct intentional rounding to monitor patient needs
- Interact and engage with patients, families, and visitors to establish trust and high-quality care
- Maintain accurate documentation of care provided
- Adhere to health and safety regulations
