Job Description
This opportunity is to join a dynamic and growth-focused hospital located in southeastern North Carolina. The hospital is recognized for its patient-first philosophy, clinical excellence, a strong focus on safety outcomes, and a commitment to modern, innovative healthcare. As part of a larger regional healthcare network with academic affiliations, the facility operates 7 operating rooms and handles a diverse range of complex surgical cases. The Perioperative Services department fosters a collaborative environment involving surgeons, anesthesia providers, PACU, Pre-Op, and Sterile Processing teams. This team-oriented setting supports high-level clinical performance and continuous quality improvement initiatives.
The role of Nurse Education Coordinator Surgical Services is designed for a nursing professional passionate about elevating nursing practice and driving operational room education excellence. This position involves leading the development and implementation of comprehensive educational programs tailored to perioperative clinicians. The nurse educator will spearhead onboarding, orientation, and competency pathway design to ensure staff proficiency and regulatory compliance. By partnering closely with surgical and perioperative leadership, as well as clinical education and quality departments, this role drives initiatives related to infection prevention, patient safety, and quality improvement using data-driven approaches.
Additionally, the Nurse Education Coordinator will mentor and coach perioperative staff and preceptors, deliver simulation and skills labs, support specialty certification attainment, and cultivate a culture that promotes evidence-based practice and shared governance. The hospital's advanced technology includes robotics, advanced imaging, AI-enabled decision support, and an optimized electronic health record system that enhances clinical workflows and staff efficiency.
Located in a region known for its unique blend of coastal charm and Carolina lifestyle, the hospital offers an exceptional quality of life. The area features mild seasons, abundant natural waterways for outdoor activities such as kayaking and boating, and vibrant cultural scenes including concerts and festivals. The cost of living is reasonable with diverse housing options ranging from downtown lofts to suburban homes and coastal retreats. Commuting is convenient, while educational institutions and healthcare access provide strong community support. The local economy benefits from growth in healthcare, logistics, and entrepreneurship sectors. Families and individuals enjoy park systems, arts and cultural activities, an inclusive community, and reliable digital infrastructure.
Employee benefits at this hospital are comprehensive and designed to support personal and professional growth. They include competitive compensation, healthcare benefits covering medical, dental, and vision, retirement plans, paid time off, tuition assistance, certification support, and funded continuing education units (CEUs). This setting empowers nurse educators to make a significant impact within a supportive and forward-thinking organizational culture. If you are ready to advance your career in perioperative nurse education and thrive in a community-oriented hospital environment, this is an ideal opportunity to explore and contribute meaningfully to surgical services excellence.
