The Staff Pharmacist role is crucial in delivering CVS Health’s promise of quality care at each retail location. As a frontline healthcare professional, the Staff Pharmacist is responsible for managing and improving patient health through safe and accurate medication dispensing, counseling, and immunizations. This position plays a significant leadership role by supporting the Pharmacy Manager and overseeing pharmacy operations during shifts. The Staff Pharmacist acts as a role model for the entire pharmacy team, promoting a culture of excellence, genuine care, and accountability. They effectively coach and support pharmacy team members to strengthen performance, ensure compliance with all applicable regulations, enhance patient experiences, and maintain safe pharmacy practices.

Specifically, the Staff Pharmacist’s duties include managing prescription fulfillment accuracy, guiding the pharmacy team in workflow procedures, delivering immunizations, and handling inventory with a focus on maintaining product integrity. They are instrumental in collaborating with healthcare providers, resolving patient insurance or medication issues, and providing clinical care such as testing and prescribing services where allowed. Maintaining compliance with federal and state regulations, protecting patient privacy, and sustaining an inclusive workplace are also key responsibilities. The role requires flexibility in scheduling as well as a commitment to continuous professional development through ongoing training and education.

This full-time position offers a competitive pay range of $60.00 to $76.00 per hour, depending on experience, education, and geographic location, with eligibility for bonuses and incentive programs. Job Requirements

  • Active Pharmacist License in the state where the store is located
  • Active National Provider Identifier (NPI)
  • Not on the DEA Excluded Parties list
  • Regular and predictable attendance including nights and weekends
  • Ability to complete required training within designated timeframe
  • Ability to concentrate on tasks and pivot quickly to meet patient and business needs
  • Ability to confirm prescription accuracy for patient safety
  • Friendly and proactive customer service orientation
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to use mathematical reasoning for pharmacy calculations
  • Problem-solving skills for patient and colleague issue resolution
  • Physical ability to remain upright, lift items, reach, and perform fine motor tasks
  • Ability to communicate detailed information accurately when spoken
  • Completion of additional tasks as directed by supervisor or manager

Job Qualifications

  • Active Pharmacist License in state of store location
  • Active National Provider Identifier (NPI)
  • Not listed on DEA Excluded Parties list
  • 1-2 years related work experience in pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting preferred
  • Ability to work in other locations across market as business needs require

Job Duties

  • Manage and improve patient health through safe dispensing, counseling, and immunization
  • Oversee pharmacy operations during shifts as directed by Pharmacy Manager
  • Support prescription fulfillment accuracy and pharmacy workflow procedures
  • Deliver immunizations and engage pharmacy technicians in immunization practices
  • Manage pharmacy inventory including cold chain products
  • Ensure compliance with state Board of Pharmacy regulations and escalate issues as needed
  • Foster positive patient experiences by demonstrating and coaching compassionate care
