The Night Manager Trainee role at Dierbergs is a vital position designed to support store management in ensuring smooth and efficient operations during night hours. Job Requirements
- Ability to be able to stand on your feet for up to eight hours
- Ability to be mobile throughout store for extended periods of time
- Ability to operate electric pallet jack, high lift, baler, hand jack and safety cutter
- Ability to lift products weighing up to 65 lbs (ex floor to waist, waist to shoulder)
- Occasionally lift up to 40 lbs overhead
- Ability to push or pull 6-wheel stock carts with loads weighing up to 250 lbs and 2-wheelers with loads weighing up to 175 lbs used to transport cases of product
Job Qualifications
- Previous retail or supervisory experience
- Demonstrated leadership through extracurricular activities
- 2 plus years experience in a supervisory position in a comparable retail environment
Job Duties
- Develop proficiency of grocery operations including ordering, stocking and merchandising product, overseeing aisle assignments, slotting new products, resets, communicating with vendors and building displays
- Develop a basic understanding of front-end operations
- Maintain Dierbergs standards consistently
- Responsible for rotation and freshness ensuring customers receive quality products
- Manage shelf and store appearance, conditions and cleanliness of total store
- Enforce and understand company policies, procedures and union contract agreements
- Monitor associates weekly average hours and control overtime usage
- Assist with implementation of company directives
- Maintain a safe and secure work environment and build safety awareness
- Responsible for operations of total store when opening and closing
- Maintain excellent attendance and punctuality
- Handle, respond to and resolve customer issues and complaints
- Ensure that customers needs are met and exceeded daily
- Initiate customer contact with enthusiasm
- Promote and maintain high service levels
- Demonstrate sense of urgency in maintaining proper service levels
- Respond to and resolve associate issues including schedule concerns, job performance accountability, customer complaints, contract violations and issues corrective action
- Hold associates accountable and take appropriate actions
- Provide honest and timely feedback, recognition and corrective action
- Demonstrate conflict resolution skills
- Encourage teamwork throughout the store
- Set the example by working necessary schedule including weekends and holidays
- Coach and mentor associates
- Provide a positive environment motivating others to succeed
- Complete honest performance reviews and develop action plans
- Communicate effectively with all store associates
- Understand variables affecting store profitability including workers compensation, inventory control and operating expenses
