Job Description

Fairfield by Marriott is a prominent hotel brand under the Marriott International portfolio, known for providing guests with a beautifully simple and reliable stay experience across more than 1,000 locations worldwide. Rooted in a heritage inspired by the Marriott family farm, Fairfield by Marriott emphasizes warm hospitality and great value in every guest interaction, ensuring a memorable and satisfying stay. Marriott International itself is a global leader in hospitality, celebrated for its dedication to diversity, inclusion, and equal opportunity employment. The company fosters a culture where the unique backgrounds, talents, and experiences of associates are valued and celebrated, promoting an environment free from discrimination on any protected basis such as disability, veteran status, or other legally protected characteristics. They are committed to hiring qualified applicants, including those with criminal histories consistent with federal, state, and local laws.

This role is based in Perris, California, and offers a full-time, non-management position with a starting pay of $18.75 per hour. The candidate will not be working remotely but onsite to ensure smooth front desk and accounting processes at the hotel. This opportunity is ideal for those looking to start or develop their career in hospitality finance and accounting without supervisory responsibilities. The job focuses on end-of-day financial accounting operations and guest services.

The position involves comprehensive end-of-day activities including posting charges to guest accounts, running night audit backups, and advancing system dates. Processing all forms of payments such as room charges, cash, checks, debit, or credit cards is central to the role. Responsibilities include managing adjustment vouchers, paid-outs, correction vouchers, and miscellaneous charges, ensuring financial records are accurate and current. The job requires printing contingency lists to maintain a record of all guests, which is vital for emergency situations.

In addition to financial duties, the candidate will be selling rooms and accommodations to guests without reservations based on availability, processing guest check-ins, assigning rooms, and operating the electronic key machine to activate or reissue room keys. Duties extend to operating the telephone switchboard station, fulfilling wake-up call requests, and relaying messages to guests professionally. The role demands meticulous balancing and dropping of receipts as per accounting specifications and careful counting and securing of the bank at the end of each shift. Maintaining work areas' cleanliness and presentation to company standards is also part of the scope.

The candidate must adhere to company policies and procedures, maintain a clean and professional personal appearance, protect company assets, and uphold confidentiality of proprietary information. Guest service is paramount, with expectations to welcome guests warmly, anticipate their needs, assist individuals with disabilities, and communicate clearly using professional language and telephone etiquette. Teamwork and positive interpersonal relations are encouraged to achieve common goals and comply with quality assurance standards. The role involves physical activities such as lifting objects up to 25 pounds, bending, stooping, and standing or sitting for extended periods. Other reasonable duties may be assigned by supervisors.

Preferred qualifications for candidates include a high school diploma or GED equivalent and less than one year of related work experience. There is no supervisory experience required or certification necessary to perform this job. This role serves as a foundational position within Fairfield by Marriott’s finance and accounting operations, providing an excellent opportunity for growth within a global hospitality leader.
